Surely we should get compensated for this outage as no responable backup is in place. If I purchase 10GB from Cybersmart at R69 will Mweb refund me this money?

Or do we need to pay for April if it is going to take more than few weeks to fix ?

Madness, you sell a product, but cannot provide the service but becuase of some stupid T&C's you get away with it. Fantastic business model and a lovely way to make money for providing f+_k all.

The T&C's cover them for issues beyond their control, but is a lack of redundancy really beyond their control?

If I can't start preloading bioshock infinite by Monday morning, then I'm canceling for sure. Can't cancel until Monday anyway.

Most expensive ISP and worst service when things go wrong, I wonder which service provider their CEO is using during this outage, this arrogance can only happing in Africa, in other parts of the world companies like this would go backcrupt in no time.

Time to cancel, and Mweb should waver the month notice period as they cannot proivide the service they are selling.

The lack of a backup is a cost saving measure by Mweb which once again screws the consumer!!

MWEB should know better than to have all their eggs in one basket. SEACOM have form with this sort of thing. Who here remembers that 19 day outage from 5 to 23 July 2010? Any well run business would have learned from that disaster, and would have sorted out sufficient failover capacity to deal with an inevitable recurrence, but not MWEB, oh no... what a joke.

MWEB is very staff heavy. Also they run TV ads. That costs money, although DSTV should not really charge them eh?

They have actual stores which cost a lot.
They have flyers.

Prolly very expensive to run, hence save by having only SEACOM

Outage Num:14964
MWEB IPC outage affecting All areas
MWEB members in all areas will experience degraded internet browsing, email and other internet services due to a SEACOM link failure. Seacom has confirmed multiple undersea breaks off the coast of Egypt and Seacom are working on providing alternative bandwidth and we should be back to full capacity within 24 hours. Please note that shaping on non priority traffic will be in effect.

Why has this not changed. Simple but they cant even give us a decent ETA.

MWEB sent me an abuse notification on friday. Karma is a bitch... lol

But seriously guys, mweb is already down, stop kicking

You're asking the wrong question. What you should be asking is why does MWeb only have 30% backup capacity when in the past when Seacom went down they had 60%+

Why after midnight is the network buggered when 90% of the users are not on the network but they claim to have 30% backup capacity.
Something serious is amiss.
