Why after midnight is the network buggered when 90% of the users are not on the network but they claim to have 30% backup capacity.
Something serious is amiss.

you REALLY believe 90% of people arent online after midnight? lol

Thats when **** gets good dude. Go examine some bandwidth graphs of Jinx/Cinx etc and see that the traffic drop off is only after 2 or even 3am mostly. Picking right back up around 6am

Speed now after 1:00 is much better. Guess midnight must be everyone's happy time.

Thanks Mweb, this evening has been a blast. All protocols have been running at full speed, YouTube had some major buffering issues at first but they're also resolved. In the last half hour my combined up and download is just over 220 MB - that's pretty close to line speed :)

I lost track of time and have been catching up on the world for the past few hours :D

Seacom is repaired?

Nope, don't think so. Will probably take another day or two. But speeds are a bit better on Mweb, better redundancy?
Most sites are running a bit better now, youtube still buffers a bit, torrents not running at all.
Better than nothing. ^__^

Speed is OK up to 7am (same as yesterday even without SEACOM), but IMO will get worse as more users get online. This all brings back horrible memories of previous event(s) when SEACOM was offline...

Check out the daily cycle in the traffic graphs for CINX and JINX:

http://stats.jinx.net.za/

Something I find puzzling, is no reference anywhere on the internet to broken cables (try searching Google News, other than SEACOM/MWeb/MyBB). If it really affected half the world (like last time) it would be quite a big story!?

Its only Semi working now because 80% of Mweb's users are still a sleep I give it till 8 AM before everything goes to the dogs again....

Another day or two? Highly unlikely. More like a week or two. Whether Mweb secures sufficient redundancy in the coming days is another question though.

Damn this sucks.... i have a telkom account and an Uncapped Mweb account, if i connect my Telkom account then i can carry on with my life no problem, on my mweb account its ridiculous.....

Oh well, guess i will have to use my Hellkom account.

I hope MWEB picks up their game with regards to redundancy....

1:1 redundancy will be epic, but no company can afford it, and sadly everything is slow as hell here again.

Afrihost is back to 100% and they were very much affected by the EASSY cable break. Redundancy isn't as simple as 1:1. Afrihost weren't overly dependent on any one cable and they dished out the available bandwidth intelligently, which meant little to no service interruption, and they also had sufficient redundancy to get back to 100% in a few hours.

Mweb guy

Will you please tell us (Mweb customers) why Mweb is not using other routing techniques like the other ISP's and what Mweb plans to do in the future to prevent this kind of situasions?

My personal opinion is that Mweb should look at another backup cable provider for times like this when Seacom goes down.

You mentioned on a earlier post that we should not compare mweb to other ISP's but how can we not? Mweb is the only ISP who lacks backup plans for its users...

Your feedback regarding this will be greatly appreciated.
