Good Evening flashfire208,

News servers have always been a best effort service and your speeds will fluctuate.

Your speeds do improve when the network is more relaxed though.

You do realize with this habit of regurgitating corporate bs no one actually trusts anything you say literally anymore right? A large section of us want direct answers to direct questions, not "when it goes better it will be better" type nonsense. But don't worry even though we don't actually expect real answers anymore we will just keep pestering you anyway in case someone gets lucky.

And if you are going to insist on the old "best effort" line can someone somewhere not put in a meter or something so we can see just how heavy the actual load is and thus have less reason to whinge in your ear?

This ^ . The response to my request to cut the BS , was to copy paste the same reply I've been given 3 times already .

mwebguy...ive been struggling again during the whole of today. Tonight speeds are terrible...wifey is trying to emails, but pages load only after 3 or 4th refresh.

youtube buffering...
http downloads less than half of 4MB speeds ex avast, 3DMark

Ive been complaining week after week about terrible service. This is a total 180 on the level of service i experienced 4 or 5 months ago.

i signed the six month contract, whats my options. Surely this cannot go on anymore...

P.s i see on sickbeard and sabnzb download speeds early monring flies.
EDIT : Switch to FNB or Afrihost...no issues...so definitly not congestion

Good Evening Tjoker

I have checked your usage for the past two days, yesterday you moved 14.99gig and 10.97gig already today.

HOw many connections are on your network at the moment? Are you downloading while streaming and at the same time your wife is having a problem with browsing?

i normally stop or slow down any downloads when i need to browse or youtube. as mention in previous posts, my bulk downloads happen between 2 am 7am, and im not complaining about that. Im complaining about speed during the day and especially at night. there is a torrent or 2 running, but as you know, are shaped. speeds very slow. surely this would not affect http?

your http speeds should still be ok, are you testing http while you are running torrents though?

thats what im trying to say, last night i downloaded avast, speeds varied from 10 - 40 kb/s. i have to refresh a page multuple times before it opens. a torrent running at 5 to 20 kb/s(because its being shaped, understandable) should not influence page displays and http downloads on a 4MB Premium Account. Switch to FNB or Afrihost, no problems.

I dont know how many times ive stated all this. Remember, im comparing overall performance from 4 -5 months ago. My account now feels like im paying for the 4MB Uncapped account @ R359. Im clearly not happy about this!

You obviously manage your downloads via your download manager.

How much data/line speed did you allocate to the torrent file that was downloading?

so.. mweb guy..

you cannot tell me that you cant advise/know about a "issue" last night with mweb from around 11pm.. ive asked numerous times what happened... there was complete line/connection failure by multiple people (i have mates on mweb)...

i have low priority/bad pool for 2 days because of this on my DOTA 2 account .. while i understand that these things happen, i would just like to know what actually happened..... not to bitch.. but just to /:"know" ....

so... what happened last night?

Recently signed up for the 2Mb throttled account. Throttled speed is 0.2Mbps, that's insane. I was expecting more like 512kbps :(

How does one go about getting telkom to either improve the copper quality in the area or preferably install a mini-dslam right outside my door?

I simply cannot live with this attenuation and noise anymore, not to mention the occasional packet loss...

I cant even stream a video in 240p... This is surely not acceptable...

What are my options here?

MWEB Guy, what are my options?

Also, what do these tracert's indicate?

For the last time...

Torrent speed fluctuating between 5 and 20 kb/s should have NO impact on page loads with a 4MB account. Does not explain why i have to refresh a page 3 times before it loads. The download manager and torrent client doesnt have a limit because i never get full speed anyway...

Trying to download BF3 on Origin, getting speeds between 70KB/s - 150KB/s max. Is this.... normal?
Steam going at 420KBps.

is there something wrong with the network? All websites not loading for me. I've tried google youtube, bbc cricinfo bing.

EDIT: it seems my torrents are still running but only mybb is opening

Hi Guys,

I'm not aware of any issues at the moment with the network.
There are a few outages on the Telkom network which is posted on our network status page.

However there's nothing that would cause slow speeds or DNS issues.
Please check the DNS settings are set to auto.

Nope, still need to use alternate DNS. Currently router has auto DNS of 197.80.80.80 and 196.28.182.20...
