MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 2

There seems to be an MWEB connectivity issue at the moment - I have 500+ms latency on hop 3 onwards. I'm connecting from the Helderberg Area (Western Cape) and I've tested my ADSL connectivity using the Telkom guest account and the SAIX speed test utility. The problem seems to be localized to MWEB.

Please advise. Many thanks.

UPDATE - 11:18: Connectivity has improved, however there are still sporadic latency spikes.

UPDATE - 11:24: Major issues (graph attached):

Hi FraserBlade

Please provide me with your MWEB account details. Do you have specified DNS's configured on your PC or router?

Also include a ping and tracert result.

Many thanks for coming back to me.

Things seem to have stabilized this morning, but I'm keeping a close eye on it. If you're interested, check the picture I linked earlier - it's a pingplotter graph (the tracert info you requested). It didn't seem to be an internal (hop 1) or exchange issue (hop 2 was nice and quick). The issue came from hop 3 onward.

Also, my system is configured to obtain the DNS automatically.

If the problem comes back, I will forward you my account details.

Thanks again. :)

Is there something wrong with the MWEB teamspeak server? Neither my friend nor I can get in.

Latency to the UK from CT has jumped from 157ms to 191ms, with lots of delays/lost packets. Tracert is very different from yesterday. Seems to be related to WACS downtime...

Afternoon Qrox, are you only having trouble with the teamspeak server at the moment?

Afternoon Gordon_R, WACS is up at the moment. Are you making reference to in game latency?

Latency seems to have improved just after I posted, and tracert reverted to 'normal' (it was definitely NOT normal at the time I posted).

I'm not a gamer, but one of the international sites I use forces HTTPS for web access, which may explain packet loss/delays (shaping?) The issue could also be site specific, or congestion somewhere between the UK and USA (possibly resolved if I reboot later).

@MWEB Guy

Seems that way. I'm able to connect to other teamspeak servers but not the MWEB teamspeak server. Just asked my friend and he is also not able to connect to the server, so we assumed that the server was off for maintenance or something.

Hi there, my Internet seems to have stopped working (I can't give much more info than that unfortunately, as I'm not at home, only my wife). Could you possibly reset the connection?

Hi MongooseMan

Please PM me the MWEB email address so that I can have a look.

Hi MWG,

My connection has been strangely dropping every so often for the last few days. Latency has been higher in WoW and streaming is really tricky. Most of the time the connection seems ok, speed test reads just fine but please take a look at the tracert and ping test below:

Hi ZeeCPT

I had a look into your account and found that your Telkom ADSL line is not syncing on up to 4MB and you have a 4MB data account with us.

I will refresh your account. Have you perhaps checked with Telkom to see why your line is not syncing on 4MB? It might be that they set it lower for line issue reasons.

Hi MWG,

Thanks - I am synced at 3mb/s since my noise levels/attenuation only allows for that as per Telkom (although not sure they're right as at one stage I was on 10mb/s with no hassles. Seems there is a fair amount of packet loss though. This started roughly 4 days ago. I will call Telkom again though to figure out whether the line can be synced at 4mb/s. Thanks for your assistance.

Glad to see you are aware of the issue, I have been struggling for 20 minutes trying to reconnect. Typing this from my cellphone, as I wanted to post about my problem. Funny how these things always seem to happen on Friday, when I'm off and have time, not during the week. Ffs

Ok. Back online. Almost though my modem had given up on me. Wonder what caused the outage.
