Trace complete.

Thank you, the trace routes seem normal.

Your speed test results with the Telkom guest account yielded 2MB speeds on a 4MB line. This should be closer to your line speed.

The results does indicate a possible problem with your line.

Please do another speed test with your MWEB account on saix.net

Your speeds are compromised using both MWEB and the Telkom Guest account.

Are you connecting wirelessly?

I'm testing from my desktop at the moment which doesn't use wireless and my other devices are all off.

Can you perhaps test with your desktop connected to the router via cable?

It doesn't use wireless, its already connected to the router directly by cable

Sure thing, sorry about that.

Do you perhaps have another router to test with? (as a test).

You could also try another port on the router.

Hi Guy,

So I just have one question, will this actually get better at any stage or should I rather just move along?

DownStream Connection Speed 4096 kbps
UpStream Connection Speed 512 kbps

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4096 kbps 512 kbps
Line Attenuation 19.0 db 8.5 db
Noise Margin 25.8 db 14.0 db

I'm currently running a 4mb ADSL line with a "Premium" 2mb uncapped account.

Over the last week or so I've called Telkom for port reset, left the modem off for extended periods, tried @mweb and @dslmweb accounts and upgraded the actual line speed from 2mb to 4mb.

You can also go through my posts in the thread to see how long I've been experiencing problems with MWEB but persisted, its really just getting rediculous now.

This was the route I took:

Are there still issues with international lines?

I switched from Mweb capped to Business Premium uncapped and so for I am deeply unhappy. Having to refresh pages before they load and dismal speeds is not acceptable for a business package.

Whats happening Mweb???

Here is a pic of timeslive trying to load.......

Send me a trace route to a local and international site.

Hi Mweb Guy, phoned in to your Call Center and asked them to re-open the fault logged with Telkom regarding my line dropping every day. To date, no callback.

So, I just got a call from MWEB trying to sell me ADSL (I did a trial a couple of months ago). The guy said that some people on 4Mbit do 700GB/month. I then asked him if that's when they get a call from MWEB telling them you need to upgrade to a business package and he said no.

Is this true or is he just trying to get his commission? I've seen a lot of threads here where people say that MWEB basically says you either cancel or upgrade your account. He also claimed that I'll get full speed downloads during the day as well because it's an unshaped packed.

Heh, the sales consultants probably shouldn't by lying to their prospective customers ;)

That's interesting. I thought the consumer-grade product was shaped.
