MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 2

Status
Not open for further replies.
Hi Nasa

Once Telkom increases the line speed from 1Mbps to 2Mbps, customers on the ‘old’ 1Mbps data product will be capable of receiving marginally faster speeds

So,

New 1Mbps will get 1Mbps (R339)
New 2 Mbps will get 2Mbps (R599)
Old 1Mbps will get speed somewhere in between? (R488)

I'd like to give MWEB two BIG thumbs up! I've had to DL a whole load of stuff in the last week or so and the performance has been nothing short of brilliant! 194GB (4mb uncapped) since 25/07. Flippin amazing!

I was thinking of switching to Afrihost but I honestly don't think they'll be able to provide that kind of performance. Well done!

Hi KaMoS

Thanks for the support and I'm glad your ADSL experience is of good quality.

Hi,

I have a 4MB uncapped line (been with Mweb since uncapped was availalbe), been having an issue for a while now that Windows Live Messenger will continoulsy disconnect and reconnect. Other downloads etc dont seem to be affected. I will also occasionally have issues logging onto games that use the Games for Windows Live Client, and over the past weekend I had issues with Borderlands continuously being disconnected from the Gamespy network.

Good Afternoon nasa; the 3rd of these examples you've provided is not the recommended solution as we don’t believe that it offers significant performance differences, however some customers may have good reason to stay on 1mb Uncapped with a 2mb line – the choice is in your hands.

Good Afternoon PurSpyk!!, are you having issues with Borderlands today?

Also the issues you are having with Windows Live Messenger and client, it could be the client affecting your experience with MSN. Have you tried alternate browsers or uninstalling and re-installing the client?

Hi,

Cant test Borderlands now, unfortunatly I am at work. I have tried reinstalling Windows Live Messenger, and there is still a problem, the problem is its not everyday. Thats why I was wondering if the protocol this program uses was lower on the list, so when there is high network usage, there could be issues.

Never had this issue when I first switched to mweb, using a different browser at the moment is not possible.

HI PurSpyk

I have escalated this to our technical specialists to contact you and test this with a different MWEB account.

My connections are dead once again.

This must then be a problem with my line and the Mweb username as these screen indicate. Now I can probably go through the exercise of sourcing another modem, but that may take time. There must be something than can be done regarding this.

I will forward this information on to our technical specialists.

Dear MWEB Guy

Im sorry to ask you this(im sure it was asked before) but, When are you reviewing your 4mb Uncapped account , R899 is too much since there are new prices on the market....... :(

Thanks

I'm out of ideas at the moment, for more than an hour, the speeds were terrible, NOW, back to normal, can't stand this, and now my friend is bringing over his router.

I'm testing it anyhow, just to be able to say I did test it on another router

We believe that our current 4Mbps product offers customers excellent value for money based on the price and the quality of our network. It is also competitively priced versus other offerings in the market.
Most of MWEB’s competitors have some form of throttling on their networks which negatively affects users’ Internet experience. MWEB does not throttle! We optimise our network via shaping policies but we do not penalise individual users based on their specific behaviour, allowing us to deliver the best possible internet experience to subscribers on our network.

I have both a Telkom SA and MWEB account. Currently having serious problems with MWEB during the day. Speeds down to 0.54Mbps vs Telkom speed of 3.52Mbps. Not good. This has been going on for a few days now. Very frustrating.

Hi conraddc

Please provide me with the compared tests and your MWEB account details, then I'll investigate further.

Thanks

Check link #2.

Your exchange seems to be congested. Note that this might be a)24/7 or b) during "busy periods".

That's Good service, but remember I only do less than 100GB a month and I am paying R899 p/m... less than 100GB for R899 I think that's bad. What do you suggest I must do.
