MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 2

Hi Mweb Guy

What is the lastest that I can upgrade my 1Mbps account to 2Mbps (to have it start on 1 Sept)?

Question too:
I phoned telkom, they confirmed that my line is syncing at 2048. They also reset my port.
Speedtests (from my Mweb account and a capped account) are only giving me 106KBps though.
My router also says I'm syncing at 1024. I've already restarted my router a gazillion times.
Any ideas?

Hi froot

I checked on our side and your line is still syncing at 1Mb.

The only way to upgrade your package as of the 1 September is if Telkom upgrades the exchange you connecting to before then.

Ok thanks. I asked the tech twice what it was syncing on. He said 2Mbps. Said if I have issues he can downgrade it to 1Mbps for me :confused:
I know other people in my area are already on 2Mbps (same exchange too, and different)

I was referring to my Mweb data-only package wrt 1 -> 2Mbps.

Our 2Mb package is already available, as mentioned, you can wait for the upgrade of the package until the line has been upgraded.
 
Mweb Guy I've checked on your website and saw that the price of the 1mb uncapped all-inclusive is R339 p/m. Why are we still paying R488 though? Am I out of the loop about something?

Hi Gunner182

The new price for the up to 1Mb uncapped package is R339. This is in line with the upgrades being done by Telkom.

I would suggest reading this post in order to get more clarity on the products and pricing.

Thanks. Let me rather rephrase it into a better sentence.
Can I upgrade from 1 to 2Mbps data without having to wait 30 days for the cancellation period of the 1Mbps data account? I probably won't be able to before next week, hence me asking.

Off-topic:
I phoned Telkom again, the lady said I'm syncing at 2Mbps, to "monitor and see, if still 1Mbps, call us again". An hour later I'm still on 1Mbps so I'm wondering.
Another guy on 1Mbps said the Telkom techie said he was syncing at 2Mbps but was on a 1Mbps profile and moved him up to a 2Mbps profile.
 
Mweb Guy, Is there any problems with Mweb's DNS servers, I have various websites that timeout with Mweb DNS servers, but when using google DNS I don't have this problem?

with Mweb DNS the following is affected:
facebook.com
eztv.it
rapidshare.com
history.paypal.com
xsusenet.com

With google DNS all the above works 100%

It has been like this for days.

It seems to be intermittent though...

I have restarted all my hardware, tried different modems, got Telkom to refresh my port, you reauthed my accounts the other day.....
All points to DNS issues?
 
It seems that it's not possible for 384K users to request MWEB (If their lines are with MWEB) to upgrade their lines to 1MB instead of waiting for October.

If I understand correctly, you would like to upgrade your data package to 2Mb even if your line is syncing at 1Mb?

There are no DNS issues that we are aware of. Please can you continue to monitor and keep me posted.

I will speak to a few people on our side as well.

Just to clarify, are you saying that if a customer currently on a up to 384 line wants to upgrade to the up to 1Mb, we can't upgrade the line?

Yes. That's what I thought because of last week someone from MWeb phoned my dad and said that our line will get upgraded anytime from 24th of August. The same date on which Telkom started the process of upgrading ADSL lines nation-wide to higher speed.

It's been more than 3 weeks now. I guess I have to be patient :) Still, MWEB is awesome!

I'm holding thumbs as well on your behalf that our line gets upgraded soon, in order for you to upgrade to the up to 2Mb package so that you can benefit from the speeds :D

The up to 384kbps lines will only be upgraded as of the 1st October. Telkom are upgrading the up to 1Mb to up to 2Mb first before upgrading the up to 384kbps to up to 1Mb.
 
My line is now 2MB and I'm on the MWEB 2MB Uncapped, as usual - everything working 100's with MWEB :)

This is the 1MB uncapped account, i have reason to believe that upto 512 upload will be the norm once the upgrades commence October onwards. Is it a MWEB site error?
