MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 2

Something going on alright, speeds are shocking right now, 4meg uncapped in East London here, cannot get more than a megabit throughput, either local or international. Tests's confirm no rise in latency through the exchange and no packet loss, and sync on modem is still at 4meg. This smells like overload on the IPC's

Test conducted on Tue Oct 23 2012 00:15:45 GMT+0200 (South Africa Standard Time)

Download Speed: 280 kbps (35 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 333 kbps (41.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 245 ms

Seems to fluctuate between those too, sometimes going up to 0.6megs.

I stopped the two downloads I had queued last night on News Servers and resumed them this morning.

Full 100kb/s. The speed seems to take a dip in the evenings. (News Servers)

News Server still borked for me. Just did GW2 dragon event (Tequatl) and it was a complete lagfest (40 second long instant casts). Jormag was ok-ish with the usual 2 to 3 second lag. Shatterer was pretty bad as well. Latency sitting at about 400ms for those events.

Myself and two other MWEB users all had serious lag in a 5 man dungeon in Guild Wars 2 last night. I've noticed the latency steadily getting worse and worse in that game. Switch to my Afrihost capped account and all is well again...

I'm experiencing horrible speeds as well (Sandton). I barely go over 100 kb/s on a 1mbps data account/2mbps line. It seems to have started the weekend.

EDIT: This is to the Astraweb NNTP servers in Europe.

Any news server downloads are crawling at the moment. I have moved from a 1mb to 2mb line and at first it was great around 200kb/s but for the last week or so I am only getting around 140kb/s and today its sitting around 40 kb/s

Can you see anything or can you reauth my acc?

Did your download speeds increase through the course of the evening?

Are you using a download manager to download data? What type of downloads are you running?

Just an update: Just completed all 3 dragon events over the last hour or so, no crazy lag (just the usual lots of people 1 or 2 second lag which is acceptable).

So for now, problem seems to be fixed. I will monitor it with regards to the Halloween events starting tonight.

Side note: NNTP downloads are non existent right now. Throughput is 0KB/s

I noticed your second post refers to Lag experienced again. Were you the only gamer experiencing the Lag at the time?

Did the speeds with your downloads increase through the course of yesterday evening?

Just thought I would mention, pinging MWEB.co.za is Fail! I have two laptops next to each other, one connected via Afrihost & the other Via MWEB. I Ping -t mweb.co.za at the exact same time and watch both screens.

Both laptops get the same ping patterns, which shows a trend that MWEB.co.za has regular spikes & the occasional timeouts.

Try the same thing but with mybroadband.co.za -t and they go flawlessly, no spikes, not timeouts.....

I'd be greatly appreciative if you could have a look at my account. I've been getting 100-+ms pings (used to get around 10ms), and 10 - 40kb/s download speeds for the past few months. I have a 1mb uncapped Mweb account on a 2mb line. Also, if this is caused by exchange congestion, would upgrading to a 2mb account have any impact on my pings?

Good Morning akzidenz, your tracer to MWEB show's a hike in latency more than usual; while tracer to bbc shows higher latency on the 2nd hop than the 3rd.

Please provide me your MWEB account details via private message so we can troubleshoot this further.

Good morning, your ping test results not bad at all; while your speed test does reflect some latency with regards to pings.

YOur tracers seem fine with both routers, please complete the test with of dropping your line speeds to 1mb to see if that helps your in game pings. Also what where you in game pings yesterday evening?

Past 1-2 weeks I am getting terrible upload speeds on my uncapped account.
@ MWEB Guy what do you need form me to look into my account?

Speedtest works on the download part and the speeds seem normal. However, I get an error when the upload part begins. I also get timeouts when trying to upload small files <1mb.

I've been getting perfect speeds all around. My 384k was finally bumped up to 1mbps last night and it was flying as per usual.

A little. they went up tp 180kb about 10 minutes after posting last night and it stayed constant after that all evening... I usually get my full 480kb after hours (from 8pm) from astraweb. These slower speeds started in October..
