How do you cancel an mweb account?
Hi fluKe
I have sent you a PM, please have a look.

How do you cancel an mweb account?
Hi there, I asked this in the Afrihost thread as well... I just want to know what the average download total per month is on a 1mb line without breaking any AUP policies etc. etc.
Unlimited! As long as you don't bypass shaping. That's it! ... I hope so.

news servers going terrible slow, cant get more than 105 kb/s, generally sits around 95-99.
anything wrong ?
MWEB Guy- sent you a PM yesterday and another one earlier today on how to cancel my uncapped account due to newsgroup shaping but have not received a response. Please send me details as you seem to respond quicker to board posts i.e. fluKe sent the same request today via the board and received a response.
Hi MWEB Guy,
Can you please confirm if more than one simultaneous connection can be made from the same ADSL line? ie If I setup the PC to dialup rather than the router doing it?
In April I joined MWeb with thier R199 1 meg uncapped account and have enjoyed an awesome experience with 99% satisfaction - the odd day when things were not going 100% and the odd glitch here and there, but could live with that as it was way better than my WA account.
Anyway in the last few weeks I started noticing a drop in speeds and just a general degradation of service - I used to be able to leave my router going for long periods without reboots etc; now I was rebooting regularly and having to make more use of my WA account. Anyway reported to support a few days ago and sent in traceroutes and speed tests and the matter was escalated to a technical specialist.
Just got off the phone from said technical specialist (name know to me) who basically told me all is fine from MWeb's side; this is a shaped product and news servers are a best effort service and that the shapers kick in when bandwidth is not available, and if I want better I must move to an unshaped account. Basically he told me MWeb does not have bandwidth and hence my account is slow. I checked this with him a few times and told him that 6 months I never had this now for the last week or two things have gone from bad to worse.
Well, I am very sad this day has arrived as I never thought (hoped) this would happen with what has been a great product. I found the service from the said specialist arrogant and basically he could not care less.
I guess bandwidth is in short supply and so now we must be happy with less than we had before.
Hi Fulton17
I can tell you very sad :-(
We would of communicated if there was a bandwidth issue. What I do know is that we do not have any Network issues.
We do state in the T&C's if our Network takes a strain we will make changes to the necessary services. News server downloads have never been guaranteed by us and we have been transparent about it on the forum.
How is your normal HTTP download speed and speed test?

+1Disappointed and annoyed would be how I feel at present
I have internet radio streaming and stopped my DL - it took 20 odds seconds to load this page. Prior to this it would have been a second or two.
Yes I know your T&C's etc, but for 6 months, 99% of the time I could be downloading; radio streaming and browsing was still a breeze. Your specialist told me if I was DL it would slow down browsing, so I stop DL and browsing is still shocking.
He quite clearly told me it is due to lack of bandwidth - I ask the same questions in different ways, and he kept saying if bandwidth is not available, shapers kick in and I will be slowed down, so he told me it is bandwidth and that I could quote him.
MWeb guy when I have had queries, etc you have given me superb service, so no offence to you and what you have posted, but your specialist said it is a bandwidth issue, and seeing as I can't even browse the net properly, i would have to say there are supply issues with your capacity. I - and many others - hope this will be addressed and we can go back to the great product I enjoyed for months
