Once again laggy. Same newbie area, same character. It's playable but I will hit patches of 2 second lag spikes and other players / NPC's rubber banding or stopping in one place and "teleporting" to me kind of thing. Other players had this to say: gw001_cr.jpg

There's something just not right and it hasn't been right for about a month and a half now.

Thanks for the update, I will have monitoring enabled and ask our gaming admins to run some checks from their as well.

Besides your gaming, how is your connection is general though?

I am getting full line speed in the early hours of the morning with moderate shaping during the day on NNTP which is understandable. With this and the tracerts, one would say the connection is fine :) But GW2 just ain't happening like it should! Would enabling QoS settings in my router do any good? Do you have any heads up about which TCP / UDP settings one should use?

Hi there MWEB Guy. I am keen to get this sorted as GW2 is what I consider my relaxation time and lag is not relaxing :P

You may activate monitoring on the account. The server I play on is Aurora Glade with the rest of South Africa. I typically game in the evening from about 7pm up to 10/12 pm. Very rarely during the day, perhaps once a week.

I will monitor the situation this evening. Thanks!

I also play in Aurora Glade im in Lumins Guild im also with mweb i cant say ive had lag in guildwars 2 im in roodepoort ... but my line is still lacking in other areas it seems like no isp can be perfect in all areas at one time haha.

Hi StevenC

For technical Gaming queries we do have a dedicated Gaming admin team: http://forums.gamezone.co.za/

Hey Mweb Guy.

Rynfield's Adsl speeds have dropped to 384kbps from 1mbps since the outage here, is this going to be temporary or just a fault in the exchange?

:)

Hi AVX

I suspect it could just be temporary but if it's not back to 1mbps by tomorrow let me know.

Seems to be back to normal now, I just need to be more patient haha :D Thank you anyway :P

Anyone else having hassles with mweb this morning? I have had disconnects; have rebooted my router; and can't even stream a 64 kbs internet radio stream (with nothing else running). Browsing was near impossible. This is shocking.

Good Morning, please provide me netstat -a -b results.

Also, is you back-up account a capped account?

Capped account and it too is now playing up and waiting for feedback from support

See PM with netstats

Are you waiting on feedback from the support team from the website?

I have not received the PM as yet.

Hi

I feel your pain, I am experiencing exactly the same problem. Although tech support has contacted me a few times, and they basically blame my router, a brand new router has the same issues. Does anyone know if its a problem using OpenDNS as your dns server in your network controller config?

The main issue it seems is when I do a tracert, the first hop times out, but this seems to be related to the routers built in firewall. They now claim this is the reason for the slow speeds?

I have a ping of over 600ms to the local mweb test server (based in cape town)

Telkom have tested the line, no problems, been like this for a week (although I have had problems before this), and the issues remain. Steam has difficulty logging on, Windows Update takes forever, it take 3hrs to download the latest Nvidia drivers, really pathetic.

If the fault is on mwebs side, we should be refunded for the time the system is not working correctly. I mean R899 per month is not cheap, and when you get speeds slower than 384 and continual problems.

Good Morning PurSpyk!!, I can assure you that you and Fulton don't have the same problem. Not in the least.

We do have a technical call back logged for Saturday to do some more troubleshooting.

it sound very similar, slow speeds, I have already had 2 call backs, and I still have the same issues. I am going to be testing a brand new router this evening, but I doubt it will resolve any issues. its interesting that early ion the morning the speed increase quiet a bit, and then in the evening the speed are extremely slow. I have not changed a thing on my system, but the speeds change. This is an indication of a network issue, or something unrelated to my setup at home.

it sound very similar, slow speeds, I have already had 2 call backs, and I still have the same issues. What you can also do in the interim, do tracers when you encounter the problem with speeds and tracers when you don't. Provide the results to the consultant that will be making contact with you on Saturday.

If the fault is on mwebs side, we should be refunded for the time the system is not working correctly.

MWEB is seemingly insisting on billing me for two full months of very poor performance (low speeds, disconnects, timeouts, freezing downloads etc.) of their 4Mbps uncapped account - R539 x 2, over R1000 in exchange for failing to deliver a working product. And because of the poor performance we've had to purchase accounts from other ISPs, so ~ R2000 odd in all for two months Internet :/

We struggled for weeks and weeks trying to get their "technicians" to address the problems and they did nothing. By end November we gave up, now they insist on billing for December, for an unusably bad product.

My only advice is get out as fast as you can and cut your losses, every extra month is another month you will be billed for a non-working product.

(MWEB also tried to blame our equipment, it's not our equipment, multiple other ISP accounts work beautifully on the same router and line.)
