Good Day everyone, there is an international outage at the moment and you may experience a degraded international service. We will provide you more feedback once we have established the extent of the outage. Please bear with us during this time.

Thank you MWeb Guy!

Today of all days :(

Is everything ok on the Mweb network?

My local speeds are normal but i cant even load BBC news or the speedtest site.

Everything works perfectly on my afrihost account though

Thought some issues were going on, Guild Wars 2 completely dropped me. Hope the issue is resolved soon!

I thought there were fail-safe roll-over fail-over whatever systems in place to prevent (hour+) (long) International outages?

The lil' chap with the jerrycan full of gasoline is still making the trek to the backup teepee to engage the TCP over Smoke Signals contraption :D

Not to be rude in the MWEB thread but, who's the best option for an easy to buy/access pre-paid ADSL that has a LONG roll over feature? I really need to get a backup pre-paid account for times like this.

The MWeb Network Status page indicates that the problem is a Seacom link failure: http://www.mweb.mobi/Outages.aspx?outageType=OTHER

The failover option usually means that all of MWeb's international traffic is routed via the Cape Town link (WACS). During peak times this link becomes hopelessly overloaded (frustrating for all users, including those living in CT).

P.S. At what point does 'slow' or 'degraded' become 'dead' for an hour? I would be very happy with dial-up speed (5-6KB/sec), but I can't even get that...

Edit: Just as I posted international came back full-speed in Cape Town. My point remains that it seems to be 'all-or-nothing'.
