I cannot connect to the net with my mweb adsl account. My adsl light is on and I have restarted the router twice now.

;-( ;-( ;-(

Hi Tokashi

I checked the line and the readings irregular. I re-create the port from our side. Please restart the router and let me know if you are able to establish a connection. Also, let me know which lights on the router are on, after the reboot.

Mweb-Guy. I have a few concerns. One of my clients also have problems with skype, I asked him to log the call with the support center, since I can not do it for him. He phoned me, while he had the mweb support center on the other phone, telling me they think its his LINE that's causing the Skype problems. I told him, to ask the consultant if he knows about the skype issues everyone is experiencing, the consultant said no, he is not aware of any issues. :wtf:

I finally got a call from your business division regarding my problems. This was after I send an email to support on the 15th of February, I only received an email reply on the 21st of February telling me they had unusual high mail volumes, took them 6 days to get back to me, just to tell me they will get the Business division call me. Today is the first of March, they called me back after I had to go via my account manager. The consultant asked me what my problems were apparently I am complaining about slow speeds. I told him I have SKYPE PROBLEMS, They want to reset my ports to get it fixed. :wtf:

Please stop ignoring this, You don't reply to any of the skype comments on here anymore, Its not going to magically disappear. I can not believe that your call center isn't aware of any of our skype problems. How is this possible?

My question is, Do you think its fair that we are being treated this way?

Hi Mk1gti

We are not ignoring the Skype issues. Our engineers are looking into this as we speak, please see the questions we asked yesterday regarding current Skype issues.

Please provide me the feedback so that I can pass it on to our engineers for further investigation.

mweb guy, do you treat skype and youtube issues like the ones mentioned with any priority? from what i can see it looks like your engineers see this as a low severity problem and therefore they do not see the need to sort out the issues in a hurry?

It looks like Mweb gave up on Skype/Youtube problem and the client who are complaining about it .

Hi Gerhardva

I checked the account and notice that our Technical Specialist was in contact with you recently. If you have any other outstanding issues, please let me know so that I can look into this from our side.

It's not that. I am looking for an unshapped account, your shaping policy is making my internet experience a nightmare. My most active times on the net is between 16:00 and 19:00 during the week, this is when your shaping is in effect. (weekends seem to be ok)

Hi Guys

Thanks so much for all the info provided thus far, I know it must be rather frustrating having all these problems with Skype and now with Youtube. Believe me it's not fun for me also seeing how many of you are having trouble with it. Our engineers are still trying to isolate what the cause is and we'll let you know as soon as we confirm what/where the problem is.

Could I ask that if you still experiencing issues with Skype that you provided me with the info I previously requested.
To those who have already done so, thank you, the info has been passed to the engineers:

1) Does it happen all day and is it also a problem at night?
2) What Operating system does the user have and what is the skype version. Please check help -> about.
3) Are there any other pc’s on the network with skype, and do they also give problems?
4) What is the exact problem:
4.1) Disconnects after a while
4.2) Skype doesn’t even log in
4.3) Logs in and calls connect, just bad quality
4.4) The video part is bad, or the voice part is bad, or both?
5) Type of account (eg: 1mbps, 2mbps, 4mbps, etc)
6) Region

If you having trouble with youtube, please supply me with the following info I will make sure the engineers get it.

1) when did the problem start
2) nature of the problem (slow, just buffers, freezes, etc)
3) youtube stream speed
4) does it happen on another PC/device when tested.
5) account type
6) Region
7) are you able to stream from another similar site and what is the experience like (dailymotion, metacafe, vimeo, veoh, etc)

*Edit* Also include the time of day these problems occur.

Thanks you in advanced. :)

1) Skype maybe connects in the early hours of the morning intermittently. Otherwise it never connects.
2) On Ubuntu 12.04, Windows 7 and Windows 8. The latest version on all 3 operating systems.
3) Every PC, Android and iOS device on my network cannot connect to Skype on Mweb.
4) Skype will just not connect. If it does it will be online for a minute and I would recieve some offline messages but then I go back offline.
4.2) Skype doesn’t even log in
5) I am using a uncapped 1mbps business account.
6) Western Cape, Stellenbosch

This is definately a MWeb problem. If I use my WebAfrica account Skype magically works.

We do see this matter as a high priority.

We are not experiencing any speed issues at the moment.

Having similar problems in the Centurion (Lyttleton) area. in fact I couldn't post this replyusing my mweb 1mbps uncapped unshaped so doing this over 3G.

Local looks OK.

Youtube is useless. 10 seconds of video downloaded in 5 minutes at 240p.

International pings are also OK latency-wise but a fair proportion of timeouts.

I tried to run the mweb speedtest before I make a call but it tells me I need to update Java, which is a joke because over the past hour the Oracle page has failed to download. I don't see a full download of Java happening with my connection like this.
