MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 2

Account has been "reset" by MWEB Guy, and yet I still have the same problem.

Funny... when a connection bursts and then immediately slows down to narrow speed range... that is exactly how throttling appears on a users side... and that is exactly what I am observing... hmmm... and the liars say my "unthrottled" account is not throttled... Time to draft that complaint to the Consumer Protection Council...

Also funny how I don't experience this problem with OpenWeb, don't you think? My trial account ends at 8am tomorrow, that's how long you have to fix this.

So after trying to open google analytics for the last 15min and it simply won't open - ran another speed test on myBB for international servers.

Test conducted on 3/5/2013 12:31:08 PM

Download Speed: 80 kbps (10 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 334 kbps (41.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 202 ms

If there's not some official response soon I'm cancelling both my accounts today. Might get burned again but it can't be worse than this.

I'm keen to switch from Mweb too. Speeds are unacceptable. I can't remember the last time I downloaded http or news at 350-450KB/s on my 4Mbps account. Right now I'm getting around 2.5Mbps speed tests.

If I can't browse normal web pages, Youtube, torrent, read the news, download over http or speed test anywhere close to 3.7/3.8Mbps at any time of day, how exactly are these accounts unthrottled?

My line is fine, before anyone asks. Full speed on my capped Afrihost account.

I've already signed up for Openweb silver, and will be stuck paying for Mweb until the end of April. I tried e-mailing Mweb to give them notification that I am cancelling but no response. Is there a direct number or do I have to go through their sales department?

If the service is essentailly crippled can I cancel immediately without giving the 30 day notice? It would be unfair for me to pay another month for April when the service is essentially broken.

When I move over to OpenWeb tomorrow morning I will simply refuse to pay MWEB for April.

I tested 4Mbit Sliver recently and it was very good. Direct downloads ran fast at full speed and torrent even ran pretty well - considering that there were only 5 seeds the speeds were good. I tested after hours though.

Silver IMO is good enough. I have use OW's After Hours Unshaped before and it was great too for http download, although MWEB has recently been good for most http downloads a/h.

cool. i dont mind if torrents gets shaped here and there. how does openweb perform with youtube and other streaming services? thats what i need uncapped for mostly. and right now its almost non-existent in mweb

Mweb is going down rapidly! Mweb is dead here and IS are going on blasting ahead, although that is a business account…

They should cancel this whole throttle account idea and keep the normal accounts as is there is nothing premium to this accounts, nowhere!

Everything is SLOW!!!

As a gamer, it's great. I play League of Legends on the European servers and I get almost the exact same ping I used to get on Mweb. My bro and I do download, but it's not a lot (about 80-100 gigs on a 4 meg line) and we haven't had it long enough to be able to see if we get throttled or not.

YT works well on MWEB though, at least until yesterday. I did not see a problem with it.

OW Silver was a little better then MWEB Premium Uncapped, over time I tested it a week ago. YT was no problem.

So maybe problem is with your exchange. I had such problems before and using FNB account and free WebAfrica trial did not speed things up, until Telkom got off their butts and did something at my exchange.

The thing is space_chief, is that most of the unhappy users here have identified the fact that the problem exists with Mweb, not with their exchanges/youtube/their own adsl lines, and Mweb are slow to do anything about it. All that Mweb guy is doing is collecting data, or possibly stalling for time. It's really hard to tell since there is no general communication about the issue from Mweb's side.

Canceled end of last month - can't wait to get away from this sub par web experience at the end of the month :-(

Looks like MWEB guy is also feeling the heat - only one post so far today

International seems to be having some trouble! Has all this junk coincided with that Seacom break a few weeks back?

Also a shame MwebGuy is forced to face us bunch alone but still that's Mwebs choice, and it's an ever greater shame that he has chosen to ignore the Youtube complain yet again

I believe there is a general capacity lack at Mweb, why they made a business move like introducing throttled account at a reduced price will most certainly divert resources along the standard uncapped bandwidth total which they now went and named premium uncapped.

How do we know the DIFFERENCE IN THROTTLING between packages??? Do we pay more to experience the exact same service as throttled uncapped???

We had one Mweb business account, which we downgraded to “home” uncapped and in the end both these products concluded the very same results in all tests done by us…

Yep, youtube... what is up with youtube these last few days mweb... just horrible loading times for video on my 4Mb line even at 240 quality.

Hi All, we are currently having slow international browsing and email due to a WACS link failure. Our engineers are investigating with Seacom. Traffic has already been rerouted. We apologies for any inconvenience during this time.
