Hey guys,
Just wanted to check if anyone else has this issue.
I run a web server from my local server as a development platform. I thought I was going crazy when I couldnt get external clients to check out the dev server - eventually - I tried changing the port from 80 to something else - and voila - seems to be working now.

Leads me to conclude MWEB uncapped (not business uncapped) is blocking port 80. Can anyone confirm this? Its quite annoying that they do this if its so. Shaping I can understand - blocking I cant.
Im paying them for bandwidth, what I do with it should be up to me.

Do you have the business uncapped or normal home uncapped? Pretty sure they have something to cover themselves in their FUP's about this, they will probably tell you to get a business uncapped account if you want to publish sites etc. Best would be to phone them and ask if they block incoming ports, and if so which ports...

Just got off the phone with them after waiting what felt like forever (15 min) and they say they arent blocking it. ARGH! what could it be :(

Could it be the firewall rules in your router? Have you allowed incoming Port 80 requests ?

I think MWEB had a wobble on their network. I had a sudden mass disconnection of my external clients (they don't use port 80) and they struggled to reconnect. A trickle of them started reconnecting so I knew the ports and routings were fine, just I think they struggled to get through. About 15 min ago all has returned to normal. Suggest you try now

I think Jah' has the solution - have changed the setting - will reboot shortly to see if it has worked :) TA Jah

For ease of reference.

Yes, they block port 80 (and a few others). Go to your control panel and disable it there, at your own risk. It's intended to stop people from logging into your router remotely.

I have no blocks on Port 80 or 443 on non business mweb.

As Valerion and Jah have said - it was the 'protected access' that was enabled. It is all now working fine. I wish the MWEB tech I spoke to had said this - but anyway.
