Mweb uncapped hosting - file permissions fubar

Yesterday my phpBB3 running on an mweb uncapped hosting account stopped working.

I cannot set file permissions via FTP and doing so via chmod in PHP has no effect.

Wrote a little test php script that creates/writes/appends to a file and then reads it. This works fine on my host4africa domain but fails to work on Mweb. What the hell are they doing ?!

Anyone else having permission problems on Mweb ?

OMFS - so this will probably not end well.

Well if they don't have it fixed by 2pm then I'm moving back to host4africa. Seriously, R9.99 a month is nothing and in the years before when I was still on h4a I have no problems at all.
