So the question is, who should I go with?

Things I am looking at in order of importance are;

1. Gaming (battlefield/call of duty etc.)
2. Torrents and international news servers (video and games)
3. Local news servers (for video and games)
4. Pure download amounts (I get about 25out of my wireless so id't expect about 50gigs)

- All on a 384kB line
- If after hours downloading is my only option I will have to deal, but preferred not to.

OpenWeb Silver R239/m
MWEB STD R219/m

Thanks!

Edit:

If you feel a different account would be better please suggest!

Good Evening foX2delta, please provide me your contact details and we can set-up a 7day trial for you to test the MWEB product.

A while back I started a thread like this except I said openweb stardard or mweb 384 from the responses I got mweb seems like a better deal but openweb gold is the best you can go for you also didn't state what you want to download and how much gigs you want to milk out of your connection.

@Cryax

Thanks, edited my post.
About 50gigs and mainly games and video content downloading.

Hi MWEB Guy

Is it true that MWEB is not part of the local backbone/network, and in order to access local site, the traffic goes international and then back to SA?

foX2delta - Apologies for highjacking your thread...

Not true they do peer with everyone locally, for a while now :)

If you let mweb take care of your line, you will save you a few bucks as well.

Openweb is pretty cool, but its only their gold packages that seem to be any good.

Take MWEB Guys offer and use the trial account. Thatll be pretty much best way to test if it'll meet your expectations.

I'd recommend the MWEB uncapped package. Always. And this is coming from a guy who hated MWEB/iAfrice since 1995 ;)

I wouldn't recommend an ISP taking over the ADSL line. They need to go through certain channels that would make your life more difficult/time consuming than the extra bucks you save. Having my line with Telkom i can phone them up and bitch / change anything immediately. The SLA telkom has with ISP's are 4-5 business days (sometimes taking even longer) for normal queries.

If you don't mind the wait, then fine. But if I want to upgrade/downgrade the line speed, I don't want to wait up to a month for things to happen. (21 days is their SLA for upgrades/downgrades whereas you can have it done within 24 hours if you phone direct)

Hmmm, so no one with experience with both or knowledge of both?
