Mweb - UNshapped, Uncapped

Sup Guys..

So im currently on Mwebs Uncapped, SHAPED 512k line. And it is CRAPPY!!!

I have cancelled.

So now im looking at their Uncapped, unshaped - but 384k line.

Who is on it? How is it? Were is Hemps?:D
 
Ok this aint Mweb unshaped service. Ive been using these guys for 1month now and I have absolutely zero complaints. Its full unshaped day and night and uncapped. You will need to move your line to them as well but thats a few extra bucks you also save. They have 384K and 512K services. Cheaper then Mweb too.

Mweb ADSL is CRAP!!!, so let me save you some time, dont use it.
You will buy a 4 Meg account but get just over 38K download speed. and when you call then they are very quick to blame your telkom line.

In my case i did a complete local and internation download test, with telkom. I have prove that MWeb cannto provide a 4 Meg adsl solution.
I have cancelled my account, been with MWeb for 6 Hours now.

Uttelry DISGUSTED. I hate there damm sales talk " Oh Yes sir,you will get 4 Meg download speed, we dont use I.S anymore, are now use Seacom and Sat3" Ohh helll, help us....

So let me save you the frustration, dont believe that you will get 4M from MWeb.

I need to make the following statement.
If you were thinking of moving to the MWeb home adsl option, Let me save you some time and frustration.
Dont move the the MWeb home ADSL option!!!!!
The MWeb ADSL option is a shaped option, shaped to the extend that it is not usable.
You will not be able to download your microsoft updates.
You will not be able to browse youtube.
You cannot download from Rapishare.
You cannot join a webex meeting
You will not be able to make SIP calls over this line.
Your VIOP PABX will nto work over this line.

The reason that i can "Cannot" is purly because the line is shaped that you can only us 1-2Kb of your 4Meg line. And this is after business hours, i have to think what they do in business hours.

In a nushell, i have bought a 4Meg home ADSL line, it is completly useless.
MWeb shape this line into the ground,
I had my Mweb aco**** for a couple of hours and then cancelled it. It is useless.

I also have a 512 Uncapped MWEB account. More than 90% is torrents. I also never download more than 2 at a time. I'm sitting @ 99.2GB for May so far. Last month I did 100GB. So no complaints from me.

However HTTP speeds have been crappy most of this week although P2P have been going nicely between 30 and 50 most of the time.(It does go down a bit during the day as expected)

Not had any problem hitting 95GB this month, haven't even tried that hard :D
 
My office has 4Mbps business uncapped, which is Mweb's uncapped & unshaped solution and it does perform like it should. The only times that I don't get to max out the line is when the site itself is slow or our internal Squid proxy is limiting me.

The OpenWeb (Mweb) 4Mbps uncapped that I have at home is quite slow during the day and even after hours, but when everyone is asleep (00:00 - 07:00) its going strong at full speed :D
 
So i'm guesing no one has actually been able to respond to the users question with an actual answer related to the question?
I'm also interested in the 384k uncapped/unshaped option - seems like there has been a few complaints about shaping on the uncapped accounts, so wondering if the 384 unshaped might be comparable to the 512 shaped line?

Is there anyone here that can give some feedback, or possitive critisism? This would generally not include:

MWEB IS CRAP!
OPENWEB is SHEETT noooooobb
I hate SEACOM!! etc.

We all know Telkom is shyte and Seacom is unreliable, but here we are, all of us using it, so let's just skip that bit.
 
I'm very happy with my Mweb uncapped (shaped) 384kbps account. I've rarely had cases where I wasn't able to download above 35kB/s. I have to add that most of my downloads are either from Steam, HTTP or NNTP (News server) and they are either after hours or on weekends. I'm also playing games (CS1.6) on it basically every night and 99% of the time the latencies are pretty decent too.
There are usually quite big differences in the quality of service that the ISP provides for 384kbps users compared to 4Mbps users. You'll often get that 384kbps users can download at like 80% of their line's sync rates, where as 4Mbps users might only get 20% of their sync rates for most of the time.

If you really want unshaped, then go for the Night Rider Bundle account at Cybersmart, which gives you 15GB unshaped data and with free Internet from like 00:30 till 07:00 every day.
15GB is more than enough for most users. I even considered moving to them since I rarely download more than 15GB on my 384kbps line.
 
Hmm, good to know - do you know if VOIP services are shaped?
My biggest concern is that I'm on standby a lot over weekends and we use either Skype or Cisco IP phone (via VPN) to chat to clients in the UK - I'm currently doing this over 3G which sucks so much that it cannot be described without being moderated.
