A client of ours recently insisted that we use their hosting company for their website. Despite their protests we went ahead.
MWEB kindly forwarded us the login details for the database, unfortunately it took 3 days to ascertain that port 3306 is blocked (the first consultant didn't understand what a port was) and, in fact, you have to use their phpMyAdmin site - of course neglecting to ever provide those details!
Eventually we got up and running and within a day we ran into an issue. The tmp folder was inaccessible. This is set in the php.ini file and I don't have access to it, nor a vhosts file and, as such I'm stuck. Their response?
I know this! I can't change the damnable upload folder path!
This response was promised within 24 hours (already an unacceptable response time) and only two days later did they respond. We then attempted to expedite the issue as it has now been three days since the issue occurred. They responded that they absolutely won't escalate this and can't help us for another 24 (48?) hours.
Furthermore we're now suffering a "access forbidden" error on some IP addresses, and once again either MWEB is paranoid or completely useless and has blocked certain addresses, my guess is the latter.
We're now sitting over 24 hours later and still no response to my update. My client is irate but is at least listening to reason and we will be moving them over to Afrihost next week.
How, in this day and age, can you provide a service so terribly sub-par? How does this company remain in business? Either way I'll be happy to have all my clients moved to another hosting company as soon as possible.

He cannot create files in /var/tmp/phpNz51YF as his user has no permission.
He can create it in his root directory and that will solve the problem most likely.
