MWeb WiMax Speeds

MWEB notes the questions regarding the changing of trialist's line speeds as well as comments regarding overall system performance. Regarding line speeds, these have been increased from 384Kbps to 512Kbps and even 1024Kbps in some instances, before being downgraded to 384Kbps again. This is being done as part of our performance and capacity testing. Unfortunately, we cannot have all our trialists on 512Kbps or higher speeds indefinitely on account of the bandwidth costs that MWEB is incurring.

Regarding system performance, we are glad to see recognition of improvements since the end of last year. We upgraded our entire wireless backhaul infrastructure in an effort to reduce packet loss and latency in this key element of the network.

Applauds Mweb and their continued collaboration with the Beast :D

I've learned to hold applause until their customer base reaches around the 10000 mark. Then we will see how the wimax performs in terms of ping and packet loss :)

I'm glad to see that they have a Rep on the forum. Does anyone else have problems with their connection once the wind starts to blow a bit strong?

I know this is under Mweb testing, but I've got Telkom WIMAX and the wind or rain makes absolutely no difference!!!;)

Same here - doesn't matter what the weather is

Maybe got to do with distance from base station??? I'm 13 km away - not line of sight...

Take a picture of your installation and pm it to me. As the guys stated rain and wind shouldn't affect your connection. However if the pole moves around then it might be a problem.

No can do on the pic. Sorry camera's busted. I live in Parow and I'm getting signal from Plumstead! Could it be that that base station is so far away?

It is far! I'm going to get on the roof and re-adjust the antenna. If that fails I'll PM you jls_n. Thanks
