Hey Guys

Has everybody else also been suffering a lot of mxit problems since the upgrade this past weekend? I just saw that the info bot has posted a tech note on contacts vanishing, and they will sort it out.

I tried out the 5.6 client this morning, and it is very good, but when I saw contacts vanishing and strange behaviour, I thought I was losing my mind.

Those poor guys must be under so much pressure to sort the upgrades out.

Yeah, MXiT is fubar since they released the v5.6 upgrade.
I've been so damn irratated with it, I just had enough, I hope they come right now.

It's not 5.6 that's the problem - they upgraded their server software and that is why there are huge problems at the moment.

I don't mind being offline a bit, my thumbs and eyes can enjoy the break. :p

I wonder what has backfired so badly on them though. Logging in goes quicker, but now I keep getting the little disconnected world sign on the top, before it tells me there's no connection and then it crashes.

There's going to be lots of withdrawn teens tonight lol. But there isn't much real alternative, mig33 sucks and not everyone can get onto FaceBook. Maybe they'll get some homework done tonight lol

Microsoft Windows Live Messenger ftw (for Symbian)

i started getting the same mesage from different people, thought i was going crazy

Hi Everyone,

When MXit launched as a free service in May 2005, we used a software architecture that combined our own software with some open source software. Not only did this solution fit our (very) limited budget, but the open source components were widely used by numerous other players in the IM world.

As time progressed we upgraded our software (and servers) to cater for more users and it served us well. Then as we crossed the 6 million user mark, things became somewhat shaky and during the past few months, it has become a real nightmare to keep the systems up.

So ten months ago, we started to develop new software that would handle a lot more users than we have now, and would enable us to launch new products and upgrades much faster to the pleasure of our current 7.7 (and growing) million user base.

Over the weekend of the 12th and 13th of April 2008, we started the migration to the new software and the process was really, really painful, even after months and months of testing.
Our team of developers are working around the clock to fix issues and they will be fixed – every single one of them.

The next few days might be challenging but once we have fixed everything, the experience will be so much better.

Thanks for your understanding

Herman Heunis
(MD & Founder MXit)

PS – MXit Café is coming soon…

Well, they seem to have gotten it mostly fixed by last night, it works much better now, though I am missing 2 contacts still.

Hope their new core lasts longer and is capable of better services now.

Would be interesting to see what software they use.

At least my N80 is logging in much faster now, hardly any lag.
