Hi

I use MXIT and Whatsapp to chat to friends when not at my PC but this week I have been unable to connect to the MXIT sevice using a Cell C sim card.

When using my WOOOSH! speed stick mxit on my PC won't connect and on my phone it says there is no connection however I am able to use Whatsapp on the phone and surf pages using the browser.

The problem lies with Cell C, of that I am sure. I have checked my APNs and have tried it on two phones (both Android). I have also posted on the MXIT forums but have yet to receive a reply from the MXIT team.

Is anyone else having issue connecting to MXIT or a similar service? (and yes I have decent signal.)

Yes, I've being having that similar problem with MXit on Cell C for sometime now :(

Hi all

i will take this up with networks.
i get back to you ASAP

Thanks ~AM~

As I said on the Mxit forums this problem persits even after a hard factory reset. I have triple checked the APNs and even moving to a different area fails to solve the problem.

@killerbytes You said your sure that it is cell c? Have recently done any updates on mxit? When you said hard factory reset: are you talking about a OS reset or a phone restart?

@Cell.C-Guru: I have tried using two serperate Cell C sim cards in two different Android phones in two different areas (Kyalami and North Riding). Logging into Mxit using my Cell C speedstick at home takes forever (averaging about 60+ seconds) while other webpages and applications connect to the internet instantly and load perfectly. I am running the version of Mxit available on the Android store. The Mxit team say they are not aware of any general issues with the Cell C network and Mxit.

I reset the OS using the factory reset option as well as clearing the phone's cache and data. Basically the only thing left on the phone was a fresh version of vanilla Android 2.2.

I have tested the phone using my Vodacom sim card as well as a WiFi connection at my office and Mxit is able to connect perfectly.

Same problem

Cell.C-Guru I have exactly the same problem with exactly the same phone as killer byte.
It worked perfect until a week ago. If i place my sim card in the Nokia ExpressMusic it also take around 60 seconds to login. Logout takes for ever. Also tried everything.

The problem seems to have solved itself last night. I can now login to Mxit, but I will keep you informed if the problem re-occurs

I am also using Vodacom at this moment. I am still having the problem on Cell C. I am really fed up with CellC.
Customer care tell me there is no problem. If all other internet is working then the problem is with MXit. I really don't understand how they don't seem to think why I keep telling them that it works fine on Vodacom.
When will they ever sort it out? If I did not have a contract, I would have ported to Vodacom two months ago! Well if it goes on like this I am going to have to cancel my contract.

Yep same issue here as well...Cnt connect on the phone... nor the pc using Cell C stick. but with my Vodacom Sim it works perfectly.

I just had a big fight with my cellphone again. Have you tried contacting Cell C about this before?
Really don't know what Cell C's problem is. Do they want us to stop using MXit? Or do they want to tell us that they don't need us as customers? Really seems like they want us to leave their network.

Good Day Smartie083

MXit is working, but we always have to try to log in at least 3 times before it actually works. And then it keep on disconnecting from time to time.

ALSO, sending msgs in whatsapp seems to be slow at night and during the day its instant. this is a tower problem as i live in queensburgh malvern (tower is situated near escombe station) and theres always issues regarding call quality and msgs that are lagging to be sent.

Instant messaging.

Hi, i have been having connection problems with Whatsapp and Mxit lately. Mxit logs in after few trys of logging in and Whatsapp sends my messages after a long time. What could be the problem.

I thought I was the only one who had this problem until I found this thread. I also use the trying to login 3 times trick and it works most of the time, when it doesn't work I have to switch off the phone put in my Mtn sim login mxit with it, switch off the phone again put in the cell c sim... the first login works fine after that I have to try logging 3 times.
All my other apps work fine operamini, Facebook, whatsApp, gtalk etc. It's just mxit on Cell c

v845 on android

I hope this hasn't been closed as yet. Well I'm new this forum,I've found it very helpful so decided to join.
Anyways its 2012 and I'm having similar issues with Cell C. I use Pidgin for MXit, and each time I try to login, I get a disconnected message saying 'timeout while waiting for a response from mxit server.'
I know this is a problem with cell c as I can get into my browser without any issues, and when I use a different sim in my data card, I get connected to mxit without any issue.
I contacted cell c, poor service as they have not replied til now.
Can anyone help plz? I'm missing those friends who don't have bbm, whatsapp and the sort...!

hi
can you PM me your number and will check on it on the network side.

regards,
bas
