My 2009

Let us hope the credit crunch doesnt follow through into 2009 as badly as it did in 2008.

I suppose alot depends on america and its newly elected president, seriously tho, i heard this morning that oil price has dropped by 73% total. that should technicly put petrol at around +- R3 - R4 a litre. I hope government is building a nice little nest for hard times with the extra profits they are making off fuel at the moment.

If you calculate, an average tank of petrol costs around R500 ( should be around R200 at current oil prices ), government is making around R250 - R300 extra profit per tank, estimated S.A population is around 50 million, lets say that one 5th fills up everyday, that is R625 000000 everyday that the government pockets as in pure profit.

The above is just estimates, but even if it were half of that we still talking about R300 000000 daily, I would like to know where that money is going to, we talking seriously big money here and i dont see them building houses or increasing unemployment or funding development or even tending to economic growth.

kinda explains why alot of people in parlament are buying new cars and jets this holiday and taking luxury trips ...

anyway, here is hoping 2009 is a better year for eveyone :)

Dood? How informed are you about crude prices?

Ok, I just checked the Oil price, its 39.7 US$ per barrel so thats about R382.00 per 159 litres...Please bare in mind that South Africa does not import Petrol

We import unrefined crude oil, mainly from Angola. We have four refineraries in total

>>>Caltex has a 5.5 million mt/yr (110,000 b/d) refinery in Cape Town.

>>>Shell and BP have joint ownership of the 8.2 million mt per annum (165,000 b/d) Sapref refinery in Durban.

>>>Engen has the 6 million mt/yr (125,000 b/d) Enref refinery in Durban.

>>>Sasol and Total have joint ownership of the 4.2 million mt/yr (85,000 b/d) Natref refinery in Sasolburg.

As you can see above the goverment does not have too much of a heavy hand in the refinery process. I'm not sure about PetroSA if it has a refinery or not.

Apart from that, you need to include transportation costs, refinery costs, taxes and distribution costs. Last I checked South Africa comsumes roughly 400 000 bbls/day of Petroleum, The oil companies import Crude in huge quantities, millions of barrels. So they bought one barrel at $140 a few weeks ago, now it costs $39.7, do not assume that there will be immediate changes in retail prices, because companies would make a big loss, if they still have a huge reserve of Oil which they purchased at $140. Its a simple math, if you are a computer distributor, and bought 1 million laptops from Sony @ $ 240 mil for distribution in SA, and after a few weeks down the line Sony decides to slash prices to $100 mil for economic reasons, that does not mean that there will be an immediate reflection on your distribution price, because if you do, you will make huge losses.

It takes a lot of energy to produce Tar, Paraffin, Petrol & Diesel from crude oil, but I guess you will be smart enough to do research:D

Yea I wanna get those early next year (medical aid ran out ...).

Naxiam or Nexium or something?

First try changing you diet, if that doesn't work then seek medical assistance. Any doctor worth his salt will probably tell you the same thing first. Knowing the delivery guy from Steers very well is not a good sign.

I hope in 2009 that every garage can independantly choose the price of petrol... So there is some competition in the petrol...

Bile in your mouth means liver problems Dolby!

You're likely familiar with acid reflux — the backflow of caustic stomach acids into your esophagus, the tube that connects your throat and stomach. Less well known is bile reflux, which occurs when bile — a digestive fluid produced in the liver — flows upward from your small intestine into your stomach and esophagus.

Bile reflux often accompanies acid reflux, and together they're a formidable team, inflaming the lining of your esophagus. Bile reflux also affects your stomach, where it causes further inflammation.

No need to frighten the child! Yes, bile is created by the liver but you'll know if you've ever thrown up a lot, and there is nothing more you start throwing up bile as it is found in your stomach quite often.

Well to get back on topic :) For 2009 I'll aim small and pass 2nd year varsity, maybe finally get a part time job considering I have a whole 3 subjects next year...I think my general goal is to become a lot more active, become very lazy this I left school although I haven't gained or lost any weight yet...

I stoped drinking and that worked wonders for me. I do however still get it from time to time if I eat onions or garlic :o

Alcohol is the only thing that still keeps me sane. I would have been a raving lunatic a long time ago if it hadn't been for the good stuff.
