I think the only reason why the test of this morning is better is because of less traffic.

I have run the Ad-aware tool to remove syware but doesn't seem to have made a difference at all.

My father-inlaw told me also later on today that his signal strenght have suddenly dropped from 4-5 bars to only 1-bar on the Vodago dashboard and that he can hardly access any webpage

I have ordered the ext antenna and will b delivered later this week hopefully

Does Anybody have any ideas to what might cause such slow speeds?

thanks

Bmeister

yes, I'll wait for Vodacom3g to reply
because to b honest I have no idea what your talking about, :)
sorry still new with the whole line speed thing

Could u mayb explain what MTU,MSS & RWin is, if you don't mind

Suddenly Mweb's accelerator doesn't look like such a bad option anymore. With a 56k modem I sometimes get 128kbit/s. And these magnitude of latencies you can measure with an old wall clock !!!

Here's TCP IQ my tests: Sat at 9pm [not sure if it's counted as high/low traffic time?]. I'm in Stellenbosch and no clue where the tower is :P My signal strength is at 2 bars and not using any antenna [didn't get one....?]

The results seems to vary ALOT, as in, i would do a test and get DL speed of 18 kbytes/sec and 2 minutes later get 10 kbytes/sec.

Just for a second oppinion

** From 9pm to 9:30pm my download speed basically halved from 20 Kbytes/sec to 10 kbytes/sec. So something tells me i'm in some sort of critical time ?

TCP/IQ's test are on servers in the US. So 9 pm here is daytime there, so the servers can be busy and slow. I have seen the same.

BM Meter

I thought I should share this experience wrt BM meter. Once installed BM Meter crashed my PC and caused it to reset as if the power was switched off when I connected to the Internet via both DialUp and GPRS.

Once uninstalled the PC performed normal again...

DU Meter performs well on my PC...
