My 40GB ps3 cannot play ps2 titles

I thought sony was really pathetic when they released the Ps3 40 gig without backwards compatibility for ps2 games...yet the 60 and 80 gig consoles have ps2 compatibility.

I called the supplier and made a moerse fuss and they refunded me R5000, so I bought an Xbox and a Wii. Sorry dude, was just pissed about the remarks but all is well, no hard feelings. ;)

Your assumption is incorrect.

The PAL versions still had some hardware in them to aid in PS2 emulation. That has now been removed.

They may one day sell PS2 games as a download but these will have to be partially re-developed and re-compiled before this can happen

Yup, dealing with Sony will do that to you ;)

I've also got the 360 and a Wii... only combo necessary IMHO. Enjoy!
 
This was one of those things my friends kept telling me when I imported my 360: its only got software emulation for a few games. The PS3 will be fully backwards compatible! Lol... looks like you got lieded to! Now with the recent updates EVERY SINGLE ONE of my Xbox games play on my 360!

well personally i think you a chop just to post this, because everyone knows that ps2 games dont work on 40gb ps3's

Sorry ou, it's a bit of bummer,

Unfortunately the PS3 isn't chippable at the moment, and even so it wouldn't change the BC problems because they removed a required piece of hardware.

Frankly I wouldn't chip an R4500 piece of kit in the first place!
