Living in Nairobi. I have an ADSL Broadband connection from Telecom Kenya. Every 60 minutes it cuts out. I can get it back by switching off the power to the Router and then turning it back on. - that gives me another hour. Why does it disconnect. Telekom say something about telephone wire repairs in my area. But this has gone one several weeks. Could there be a fault in the Router which causes it to cut out? What is the most likely reason for the disconnection? (When it connects it is slow but stable)

I forgot to add in the post that the Router is a CHRONOS AR41/2CA and serves a network of 4.

An ADSL router will disconnect if any of the the noise margin figures drops too low - typically below 6dB. Can you post any line statistics from your router i.e. both the downstream and upstream attenuation figures as well as the downstream and upstream noise margins? The noise margin of your telephone line might be fluctuating causing the regular disconnections. There should be a menu on your router that displays this information. Take a look in the Chronos/Aceex AR41/2CA manual for the details and post your figures and somebody should be able to help you further.
