Cool story bro.I've done it.
get more details what was wrong with old altinator
Sounds strange? So the 2nd hand alternator didn't work out, the car started and it was charging the battery but the car wouldn't turn off lol.
Getting a new one put in today.
Honestly cars aren't my thing, the 2nd hand alternator wasn't an exact match for my Spark even though it came from another Spark.Sounds strange?

The car wouldn't turn off as in switching the engine off?
Cool story bro.
If you don't know what you're talking about, why not just shut up?
No need to be a d*ck, but I guess that's what you'll revert to when being questioned. Well done.

What could be wrong? As Hemi said, that sounds like there's more going on there than just a problem with the alternator.
What could be wrong?
Maybe his altenator have a conection to the switched ignition leed aswell. Or integrated into computer systemI honestly don't know. The car not switching off should be totally unrelated to the alternator.
Yeah, so one thing you got to hate about the Spark is finding spares. The alternator can't be fixed, so the mechanic sourced a 2nd hand one which took up the whole of yesterday to find so hopefully by today the car will be sorted.
I'll get the burned out one back and take it to someone else to find out but my mechanic is trustworthy so he wouldn't be wasting my time going from used to new with a minimal price difference. That's strange, alternators can always be fixed or reconditioned even if the rotor is shot it can be rewound.
Alternator died just outside Grahamstown. Got stuck in traffic in Mthatha which caused the fan to run and killed the last of the battery. I bought a new battery and made it to Hilton, with headlights on for the last few km too.

Rubbish, you can drive a few hundred kilometres on a battery if you switch off all the things that drain it and just have the battery powering the spark and EMS.
If it burned out they can replace or rewind stator and rotor windings, usually cheaper just to buy a reconditioned unit though.
