This story translated from Rapport.

Mr Nico Bouwer was imprisoned and repeatedly raped in the police cells in Polekwane a few days before he was due to get married.

He was arrested of a charge of reckless driving, never given a chance to phone put in a cell and repeatedly raped by four prisoners.

He states that the police never inspected the cells once during his ordeal.

Mnr. Nico Bouwer het kort voor sy troue verlede naweek 'n gru-verkragting in die polisieselle in Polokwane beleef en vrees nou dat hy dalk die vigsvirus opgedoen het.

This is my greatest fear, that I will be arrested by some twit on a minor charge, thrown into jail and get raped. My best wishes are with mr Bouwer and I pray that he has not got the virus, and gets some good coucelling.

There is no more control in this country thats why there is so much sh*t. Death penalty would help clearing the scum off the earth's face making it a happier place and MORE food for everybody. Due to overcrowded prisons you have to ( sometimes ) share cell's with tough criminals. This might sound cruel, but i really hope AIDS will start to get a move-on. People need to die to make place for those that really mean something to society...just a pity AIDS hits the wrong people :(

Polekwane - hmmm-umm ..... Polokwane = Pietersburg

This practice is a standard thing in the northern part of our country, just last year they arrested a single mother for outstanding traffice fines, with no compassion towards her two children, 6yrs and younger. They "arrest" you just before the weekend on some silly charge, fu%& your rights, and let you out on Monday with no explanation or apology

I can go on and on and on

Last year I read a report in news24 of a woman, who was arrested and put into the wrong cell, she was gang raped by the men in the cell and the police only discovered their mistake the next day.I must find the link to this article. It happened somewhere in CT.

Police are , to be putting it in a nice way, the bottom of the barrel with nowhere else to go. They are all ppl who failed at life and so turned to the good old sap to have some kind of go t power. I was very close to being put into general population in pretoria central. Luckily i got out before the knobs could arrange it.

As far as petty crime is concerned the police are the worst of all.

White people's death sentence begun since 1994.

I agree with this. They will never say nor admit it, thereby bull****t*ng the white people. One thing ive noticed about these guys, they will NEVER attack you one-on-one, they are just plain forward TOO cowardly do do so.

shocking and disgusting... I hope he sues the police for millions and I hope his attackers never see the light of day again... frigging cockroaches... (sorry cockroaches...)...

Unfortunately this is nothing new or even unique to this country. The police have no regard, and never had any, for the danger of placing people in cells with hardened and violent criminals.

Two points. Don't get arrested - don't drive recklessly. Even more reason to be careful on the roads and pay your fines on time.

Secondly may cops are twats. When I did forensic exams a few years back, cops would
routinely bring the suspect and the rape victim and put them in the same room, sometimes without escort, while they waited for me. It was really pathetic, but what
could you do?

They tend to do this when the prisoner (Arestee) is difficult and backchats them.

This remain a despicable way of getting even.

Yep we need bigger cells. One for rapist one for drug related offences one for house breakers one for petty crimes. You see where this is going to.
we do already, Alex, Sandton, Tembisa, Houghton...
