My Cell C Experience [solved]

I thought I would share my Cell C experience with everyone to possibly prevent others falling into this trap of none service.

In March I decided to make a move to Cell C for their Blackberry Z10 deal and leave Vodacom who I had been with for the past 7 years.

The signup process was quick, easy and effective but everything just went downhill from there.

A week after signing up I received my phone and immediately started noticing that my phone's speakers would just stop working for no apparent reason, I could not find a pattern and thus resolve it myself and so phoned Cell C direct to come and fetch the phone and replace it as it was within the 7 day period.

Phoning day in and day out I was unable to get through to Cell C direct as I would have to hold on for 30min+ and calls would randomly drop as someone answered.

Finally I got through to Cell C and I explained to them what happened, they understood that I had been calling and even though I was out of the 7 day period they would book it in as an Out of Box Failure.

Needless to say I was delighted by this, the service representative, one Sipho Sithole told me that the courier company would come fetch the handset and that I would have a new phone within 21 days.

The very next morning the courier company pitched up and I handed them the phone.

A week went by and being the impatient guy I am, I decided to contact repairs to see what the progress was. I was told that the OBF was declined as the accessories weren't included.

Quite frustrated by the fact that they could not just call me and tell me the accessories weren't included and just decline it by default, I was told that a normal repair process would now be followed, meaning another 21 days.

I made peace with the fact that the phone was just going to be repaired and I would soon have my new phone back.

2 weeks after finding out that a normal repair would be done I decided to phone Cell C again, this time I was told that that phone had only been booked in the day before.

Does it take 2 weeks to be booked out of OBF and into normal repairs?

So now I still don't have an answer regarding where my phone is and what is being done to it.

Every time I make a complaint on Hellopeter, the buck just gets passed and Call Centre staff are inept to deal with customers queries.

At this point it doesn't help getting angry over Cell C's lack of service anymore and I've just accepted that it would be cheaper for me to just cut my losses, cancel my contract and move back to Vodacom.

I would like the Cell C rep's opinion on this, is this how every customer is treated?

Hi 41eight, it is not a norm at Cell C to offer sub-standard service, and your experience is unfortunate. Please PM your account number or any reference numbers relating to this case. I'll follow this up, and surely have this resolved in no time. *DM*

I have never experienced any issues whatsoever with CELL C. I had a faulty dongle which I didn't use over 8months as I had a couple of spares available sent it via CELL C store and 1 week later they sent a new dongle in packaging and NO CHARGE..

That is unacceptable they were suppose to send you a new phone (even if it meant for them to open the packaging and remove all the necessary accessories that were missing , next time deal directly with a CELL C store and let them send it into repairs that way your turnaround time will be faster and if there is any problem the store will communicate with you.

Hopefully CELL C rep can courier a new telephone to you. Crossing fingers for u

I've heard some horror stories of service at stores, and I would much rather vent behind a phone than be tempted to smack someone who clearly does not know what they are talking about upside the head.

Hats off to the Cell C rep, it took him/her a few hours to do what others couldn't do in more than a month.

Needless to say my phone is being swapped and I'm overjoyed this nightmare is nearing its end.

Thank you Cell C rep!
