My dad doesnt like the website i built him

I created a website for my dad and he doesn't like. After numerous consultations with him he still feels its not beautiful enough to start advertising with it though he is pleased with the layout.

I have removed the logo and contact details. How would you make it more appealing ? I am using a drag and drop software.

+1 Don't use a standard font family. I would use some of the google fonts. A combination of one font for the heading and another for the body that fit nice.

Problem is with building a website for someone is they don't understand they need to provide you with content. You basically got one paragraph of words to work with. In that case you're better of using like a parallax website with nice full screen photos which will make up for the lack of content. That's why wordpress is so popular for small business like this. You go for a custom template i.e. themeforest and just customize it slightly.
 
Get your dad to get a web developer to design the site.

I wouldn't want this site advertising my business either.
 
First of all, I would remove that background image as there is not enough contrast to read the text easily. Rather opt for a banner image if necessary. Something appropriate for the business.

Don't have blank pages with just headings (Services).. rather list all the services on that page with short descriptions to click through.

Nobody likes reading walls of text.. use some layout tricks to make it more interesting... eg use pull quotes or tables... and use some imagery.

Be careful of the stock images used.. try to find something that applies but you don't have to be too literal.. usability tip: if you have stock photos of ppl looking towards your content, then the users eyes will be drawn to that content.

You have a Home and a Welcome page.. this is a bit redundant.. rather combine those into a proper home page. Contrary to popular belief, having a website that scrolls is not such a bad thing.. as long as you have the most pertinent info above.

Include some "Call to Action" on the home page.. you want clients to know exactly what he does and then be able to click a button or link to go directly to a form, products/services page or contact page.

I see that you are using Wordpress... why not ask your dad to look through some free wordpress templates and then you can amend it for his needs.
 
Colours don't work for me put a shadow on the text perhaps or use a darker colour if you want to use that picture... Also the image you are using is really low quality use higher rez on a big screen it looks pretty pixalated

Don't use images you got from an image search buy one or two you can get them cheap the url of the original image just looks unpolished.

Feather the images the hard edges looks a bit harsh...
 
In all fairness it's a horrible looking site. The blue text, that low-quality image, the scaling and the way the text gets lost in the image...

Use wordpress or squarespace or something similiar if you're going to use templates. I wouldn't want that site representing my company either.
 
It looks bad, sorry bro. Clashing everywhere, things misaligned etc.

If you are absolutely adamant to go DIY, I would can the drag/drop approach and go look for templates which he would like. Templates are generally designed with good colour choices.
 
I suspect your dad would be happier if you said:

"Yo - pops. Can I take a month to do some looking around and then we do another revision and take it from there?"

Then you put his site to the side and spend a month or two checking out squarespace, wordpress etc. Build a website for yourself (can be done for free), check out some youtube videos on basic 101 webdesign, maybe do a quick online course or something. Put your head into it and learn as much as you can and take that knowledge and attempt to build him something better. If he still doesn't like the direction you've chosen - well then he can go elsewhere, but at least he won't fault you for given it a decent go.
 
Why not look at one of those local free online business website generators? (Can't for the life of me remember the name now, sorry)
 
Im with your dad on this one, pls go download one of the mllions of free templates you can use and apply that rather than your own things.
