My dog ate my netbook

Ok so my puppy had a chew on my sons Acer netbook and the other dog knocked it onto the floor.

The screen now has vertical lines on on side, about a quarter on the screen (looks quite pretty but renders the netbook useless) and the keyboard needs to be replaced because its missing keys and has chew damage.

Everything works fine and if I hook it up to a second monitor the display is fine, so it could be a loose cable (wishful thinking?) so is it worth while even bothering to take this to Acer for repair?
 
Try get a quote first.
I would call and ask them what the keyboard and the screen cost, then ask what the labour will be for the replacement.
 
If it's too expensive to repair, why not set it up so that you can hide it under the desk? Just connect a 2nd monitor, keyboard and mouse to it, and you're all set.
 
I broke the screen on my netbook, also had those lines.

Ordered a replacement over eBay and replaced it myself - cost was very reasonable.

Sure that you could get a keyboard over eBay as well.

Will cost too much for Acer to repair it.
 
I wouldn't fix it until the dogs are out of the picture. Now I never said anything about a hot lead pill a piece, although the thought was almost foremost in mind, but if you're going to have the pooches chomping on netbooks or any other expensive electronic devices from time to time, is their any point in fixing it? :p
 
I agree with McT. Start by getting rid of the dogs or not allowing them into your home.

who well sleep next to me and keep me warm at night??:confused:

argh, will probably chuck it away and keep the hdd and memory, saw a gigabyte netbook going for about R2300 with windows 7, must check if its still on

Ditto, my wife dropped hers from lap height.
Sent it in to ACER, paid around R1400 for new LCD + labor.

treat your pc like youd treat ur wife

My dogs are a bit more behaved, but I do have an African Grey that from time to time goes for walkabouts. He has a cage and a playpen type thing, but he is never in the cage, unless he is eating or drinking water.

The other night he destroyed the pvr remote, damaged the the surround sound remote, dvd player remote and bit through the wires of my netbook (Eee PC) charger. The lid of the netbook have a few bite marks, but nothing serious. The netbook also ended up the ground, but seems ok.:wtf:

Also he must be very healthy, because I have one of those pill boxes that have containers for pills for 4 x a day, 7 x days. I have a healthy dosage of pills I'm suppose to use every day. I tend to forget to take them, but Peanut destroyed them all, as well as the pill box. not sure how much he actually got in as he tends to destroy more than actually swallow.

I'm sure though that his sugar levels must have dropped, that he won't have gout, that his blood pressure has dropped, that his arthritis is under control. Now I just have to check that he does not loose to much fluids due to those very potent water pills he destroyed.

Coming weekend our new Boerboel puppy will arrive. Another recipe for disaster, I'm sure.

You should try to be more careful with English. There are things such as full stops and capital letters.
