In the first place, did anyone purchase hardware from the SA MS store before, if so, what was your experience? I purchased the Lumia 640 XL yesterday. The order process was flawless but I did notice that I wasn't asked to log in to my MS account at any time. The order confirmation was received from a SA based company called Digital Life, which I presume does the order fulfilment on behalf of MS. I contacted the toll-free support number today and the agent informed me that there is no online system for tracking orders or account details. That means, if I misplace my invoice during the 24-month warranty, I will not have proof-of-purchase, unless the on-site database survived the test of time.
I also asked for specific detail on the terms of the warranty, which is not available on the website. Furthermore the agent informed me that I am responsible for the delivery cost to the designated third-party repair centers in my province. The bottom line is that, if it wasn't for the fact that Vodacom doesn't stock the 640 XL, I would've never bought it from the online store, the service is just not comparable. Having said all that, I'm really looking forward to use this as my daily runner and will just overlook the minor inconveniences
