My first LCD

And maybe go for a 19'' or 20"?

It's actually for my sister and she just needs one, because her space is limited where she uses her current CRT.

19 WIDE TFT, 1440 X 900 @ 75Hz, 5 Millisecond, Contrast 1000:1 .283mm dot pitch, Analogue, - NEW R 1,250 excl at PC Int?

Why does that resolution look so different?

Because it's wide screen.

If you are going in the LCD field, get the tried and tested Samsung..
Once you made your mind up about getting a Samsung :p get a widescreen 19" or bigger

What everyone said - DONT waste your money on a 17inch, unless you going to play shop shop with it, because all they are good for is sitting on the top of a till. :D

19 at least. 22 if you can come up with R600 more.

17" standard format isn't too bad.

19" wide will be the same height as the 17" standard format, but wider - good choice going for it.

What HD LCD Monitors would you recommend...? I assume that full HD is more popular on something bigger than 23"...? Have not done too much research on HD and that stuff yet...
