Music and movie purchases - ATV+ is the Apple TV streaming service, like NetflixAnother thing - I thought iTunes was dead or replaced with ATV+ but (just before the power died at 20.00) I see an iTunes and Computer icon.
What is iTunes still used for?
Thanks.Music and movie purchases - ATV+ is the Apple TV streaming service, like Netflix
Thanks.
Little one using TV now, so I'll check soon. But I thought within the app there was also a place to buy/rent movies
So, I got the Apple TV.
How does one know that you're getting Dolby Atmos on Disney+, other than the soundbar display?
Going to audio settings on an Android TV has the Dolby logo, so I assumed something similar.

I’m actually just using the Android TV app at the moment and didn’t realise that it wasn’t just the pre-existing library, but the store as well.I believe that’s purely for legacy Home Sharing.
So if you “streamed” inside your house back in the day and it’s still supported now.
Movies purchases etc are all via ATV+ app.

What about music though?
Okay, so I was right about Apple TV plus being the streaming service, it’s a separate tab within the Apple TV app, but I can see why that could be different on Apple’s own hardware.Music lives in Music.
Which is also on Android I believe.

The music app on my iPhone doesn’t have a store, but checking settings for a toggle. I’ve been making all my purchases through iTunes.
So a few points :
I knew about this issue, but YouTube HDR doesn't work with content match. I've got my ATV set to SDR and match content and all apps work correctly, barring YouTube.
Although I don't watch much Prime Video, it can't do HDR10+ yet. So watching on the ATV is slightly worse than the Samsung native app. But, not a biggy...
This is though : A friend hosts a server and he says when people use the 'wrong' device, it causes his server to transcode/work harder - and everyone streaming from him suffers.
Tried to watch a movie now on ATV was low resolution and it seems it couldn't play direct or something. Watched it on my Samsung and perfect
Those issues are down to the people in charge of the apps not being bothered. As in Google and Amazon, nothing Apple can do about that
As for the streaming problem, presumably it’s Plex in which case your mate simply needs to not limit streaming to X bandwidth or you need to select Original Quality and make sure Direct Play / Direct Stream is enabled.
I know with Amazon it's not them as Apple just don't support. There have been a few rumours, but no one knows as some original statements have been removed :

Apple brings HDR10+ to Apple TV, iPhone and iPad, but there's a catch
It's here at last, but only in one app, weirdlywww.techradar.com

HDR10+ Support Not Coming to Apple TV App in iOS 16 and macOS Ventura After All?
Following the WWDC 2022 keynote event on Monday, Apple published iOS 16, iPadOS 16, and macOS Ventura Preview pages outlining all of the new features. All three sites listed "HDR10+" support for the Apple TV app as an upcoming feature, but now that mention has been removed. Apple this morning...www.macrumors.com
Can't be on his side as all my other devices still work perfectly with wherever setting he has now - it's just the Apple that is battling. If there is anything setting related, it's on my side.
But basically I feel my TV is doing or supporting something the Apple TV isn't.
Just Plex, yup.Are we talking about Plex or something else here?
Just Plex, yup.
I was hoping one streamer to end them all and assumed Plex worked the same. But I'll check all my own settings and see if they are the same.
YouTube and Amazon I'll just forgo HDR and HDR+ for the convenience of a single platform, but I'm hoping to get Plex running correctly
Will check all the settings, and see what the TV is at as well.Make sure…
