My future PC

I'm busy saving for this. Anyone with some input please give advise.

Intel Core 2 Quadro QX9650
Asus P5E3 Delux Motherboard
4x 1GB DDR3-1333
ATI HD3870x2

What else would you recommend? Or would you change.

The above configuration should set me back around about R20 000.00.

What PSU should I get with a system like this?

well before you buy piesang, hold out for word of the 9800x2 dude

its said to be 30% faster than an ultra the 3870 is only about 5% faster

I will only keep my hard drives, DVDRW, keyboard, mouse and Monitors. Everything else must be new.

Then maybe you should start this thread when your bank saving is enough to get the new PC? Things change over time, new products, variation in prices.

You should ask RPM or Bwana to get you a new name

Ok. So you can overclock the Q6600 to run the same speed as the QX6700. But if you overclock the QX6700? What speed will you be able to get?

even if you oc the qx6700 slightly more is that worth an extra 7k?

so what im saying is 10% performance gain worth an extra 7k? i dont think so

Yup, Your R20000 new rig could cost R5000 in a years time. But that's how the prices for computers and electronic gadgets work.
