My future PC

3D Mark is giving the following scores:

QX9650 = 4357 (R8,870)
QX6850 = 4346 (R8,210)
QX6800 = 4143 (R8,550) ??
QX6700 = 3823 (R4,500)
Q6600 = 3507 (R2,360)
E6600 = 2094 (what I have at the moment)

Don't know why the 6800 is more expensive than the 6850.

So I geuss seeing that you say I can get the same performance with the Q6600 when it's overclocked than I would get with the QX6700 it is definately the best buy. The performance gap is not that big between the 6700 and 6800 but the price is a huge difference.

yup price vs performance sucks ass big time

your q6600 could even get to the performance of a x6850 easily

If I buy the right motherboard do you think I will be able to overclock my E6600 2.4ghz? If yes, how much do you think will be able to get?

3.0GHz and beyond my friend!! With a nice P35 board, I reckon 3.4-3.6 with a little more Vcore juice.

The Q9300 also look slike a good buy for R2600.00 - R3000.00 and should be just as good an overclocker at lower temperatures....or am i blowing hot air here?

For the setup you wanna run...try and get your hands on the almighty ENERMAX GALAXY DXX 1000W FPS-EG1000E...It might be a bit overkill but its a kick ass psu...probably the best gaming psu in the world.

Enermax Galaxy DXX 1000w ( 12v : 408w + 492w ) , ATX/EPS12V SSi with Quad CPU support , High Efficiency , dedicated 5x 12V rail , tripple transformer design , 4 mode alert powerguard with reset function , with modular cables + storage bag , active PFC , 24pin + 2x4pin + 1x8pin + 2x2pin 12v AUX , 3x6 or 1x6+2x8pin PCI-E power connectors ( 8 pin for for pci-e 2.0 vga card ) , 2 x thermal controled fan ( 8.5+13.5cm ) , support upto 24 drives ; with OCP , OLP , OVP , OTP , SCP , UVP protection.

The 9300 is going to be limited by a low multi, 7.5 i think, so you going to need a fsb of 534 to even attempt a 4gig clock. Need some high end boards with some lovely nb cooling to go any higher.

That said i will prob get one anyway and a 9450 for the fun of it :)

With the new quads the mltis are very low as you have been told so forget about crazy overclocking no matter the board or chipset. On these quads 500MHz on all 4 cores is out of the question, so if you have a 7.5multi quad you'll be lucky to see 3.8GHz.
As for mobo, If you want top notch performance and the latest support for true full speed PCI-E 2.0 CrossfireX then an X38 based board it will have to be, but even better an X48 (Foxconn BlackOps :D / GB X48-DA6 / Asus Maximus Extreme) board would be the fastest.

I suggest you get an E8400/8500 until the Q9650 (not Extreme) arrives later on in the year cause that has a useful 9X multiplier.
Right now there really isn't a point in the Q6600 unless you can get it for cheap...
If you were getting QX6850 yeah then we'd be talking :D

As for 3DMark scaling, QX9650 is far better than QX6800, not by 20 points, but closer to 400~500 points.
