Like I said it (mx518) does not feel good in my hand, I've had one before. If there was a shop close by that stocked the G400 I would give it a spin but I'm not keen to order it blindly online.

It's usually not necessary to replace the switches. All you do is open it by loosening the little clips and then bend the arm of the spring outward and flatten it a little more. Over time the stress bends it too much and it starts losing its spring action. Putting it together again is the little more difficult part.

Logitech M705 - great mouse, apparently batteries last 2 years + (2x AA's, comes with 2x Duracell ones) been using it (daily 6 hours plus) for about 9 months and battery percentage is only on 95%

Great grip/nice for bigger hands, a little bit more pricey paid R 850 at Incredible, obviously would get it cheaper - was just in a hurry

I have had mine about 2.5 years now and still running on the original battery. Use it at work 5 days a week every day for a couple of hours a day. According to SetPoint it has 45 days battery remaining. I find it a little small at times though, but for a mouse that travels with me all over the office it has been great.

Recently went on a mission to find a good mouse for large hands. Ended up with the Roccat Kone XTD. It also has drivers for Windows, Mac and Linux.

Great mouse, but above your current budget.
