Well latley my HDD has been making like a soft grinding sound and the HDD light never seems to stop flashing. My computer has become very slow latley but I couldn't pin point the slowness until I looked at the HDD.

I've formattted, installed Vista, formated again, installed Windows 7 and Windows XP and everything just seems to hang. It also seems to be running much hotter than normal. It use to run at around 26-27', now it's 35+.

I also got DiskCheckup and it's got 2 issues.

1)Raw Read Error Rate- Predicted TEC Date- 23 June
2)Temperature difference from 100- 17 June

I'm not entierly sure what that all means but I'm sure it's bad.

I've got a Seagate 500gb ST3500320NS. I got it last year July and have never updated it's firmware.:o

So is this enough to say it's konking?

Well, that sure is the model that's been giving all these firmware problems. I also had a 500GB Seagate fail on me, before I got the chance to flash it. I recommend just verifying on the Seagate site that yours is indeed faulty, and then flash the thing asap. Although that's not a guarantee that it will solve your problem.

Good luck man! *And get that data backed-up*

dont flash!

Dont flash that drive unless you plan on having a very large paper weight on your desk... a very large paper weight that cant be recovered...

it might not happen, but are you prepared to take that risk?

first back up your data, kill the partition, and THEN flash the drive. flashing the drive with the partition in tact... you looking for trouble :)

PM me if you need help

oh, and yes your drive is dying! :D doesnt sound like LBA or BSY error though...
