Price of the gfx card. The home page of prophecy has the cheaper price. The link has the more expensive one which I fixed in my second post regarding the 4870 1gig.

oh. i'm not interested in the 4870.

why pay roughly R4500 for one when you can have the power of two for R7000 ? it's just R2500 for the second one then!

Cost of Two 4870's: R9000
Cost of one 4870X2: R7000

And which is gonna be faster? the single card will whoop the Crossfired 4870's.

well, i'm gonna have to stretch it a bit, but it is still roughly R12000

R2000 - Q6600
R2400 - ASUS Maximus Formula (x38)
R7000 - Gigabyte HD4870X2
R1600 - Gigabyte 800W Modular PSU

Total: R13,000

I'll have to put the Smilodon Case on hold for now (Maybe get my GF to buy it...LOL)

don't take this the wrong way, but you do know that watever you buy, there will ALWAYS be a bottleneck in your pc.

When i get another 4870X2, then it will become a problem, and I will probably buy another cpu as well...

Yes you can, but the 4870 works only as fast as the 4850, so there is no point.

A 4850 and 4870 perform the same as 2*4870.

A 4850 and 4870 pairing will perform closer to 2x 4850s. The difference is minimal.

And what's with the anyway, I mean how old are you, if I was wrong I would admit it, there's no ego involved. I really hate forums sometimes.

I see you really have your heart set on not one, but two 4870x2s.

My point about the 4870 1gig being cheaper was that you can use the extra cash to get a better cpu.

But for the same price as Q6600 you could get a dual core E8400 which wouldn't be a bottleneck for your card. Quad core is a bit redundant in gaming environments, it will perform roughly on par with an E6600 - E6850.

yes, but I plan on using 3D Appz as well, like 3D brush (which is ready for an 80 core) and 3Ds Max.

ok, guys - even if you say the q6600 will bottleneck it, ar you seriously thinking a Q6600 with a 4870X2 on an Extreme Gaming mobo is gonna struggle at any games I throw at it?
