My High-End Gaming Rig - Comments / Suggestions

so i should kinda disregard the wattage, and go for brand? - eish...I never knew PSU's were so confusing...

The thing with unbranded PSU's is that you cannot bargain on good effiency. The 550W thats stand on the PSU is prob 400W.

Have you ever heard of this thing called "Google" and a word called "Review" ?

I highly recommend them, and if you can master putting the name of a product into the search bar and following it with review you'll be rewarded with a wealth of information:

Much easier way :p

Ok. Is there any reason you keep posting gigabyte psus? Are they the only brand you can get hold off?

That Corsair 650 is perfect and cheaper.

Like I said the Corsair 550 if you get the 4870 1gig
Corsair 650 if you get the 4870x2.

Because he's buying from 1 or 2 Distribs, he mentioned Rectron.
Oh you mean the 4870 1GB that's actually R392.44 more expensive than you claimed?

well, it's the only PSU's rectron supplies...

frontosa has a few others, but they are quite expensive.

That gigabyte one does look quite nice to me though, if you click on that link you can see all it's features (There's quite aq lot...) - you can even overclock it (didn't know you could overclock/tune a psu)

if techie says its good, then it's good enough for me. gigabyte it is.

EDIT: to be realistic here, i don't think gigabyte would design a modular psu, packed with features, with crap output. 800W should be enough, gigabyte or not.

You're seemingly quite narrow-minded, you do know that there are things called "online shops"?

Which one of the many links that you could have easily found yourself?

No, ..no you can't overclock a PSU, that's just... man. Damn.. I'm out.

Was gonna say something to that effect as well. He wants to spend more unnecessarily just because it's from rectron.

Sigh.

I have to agree with the above, even though that is a good PSU you should really keep your options open. Have a look at Prophecy, Sybaritic, Landmark, etc and make sure you're not missing out ;)

i follow this guys reviews, try clicking on this link: http://www.3dgameman.com/content/view/10926/103/

Edit:
I just watched the video and it looks good - doesn't look like a piece of ****. i like to be able to control my hardware as far as possible, so i think this one is for me.

I dunno, i just like it.

dude, it's an EXCELLENT price if you check some of the other prices, not more expensive. (but hey, if I say its cheaper, you guys say it HAS to be crap, because it's cheaper...)

Did you know that a lot of his reviews are paid-for advertising?
I would look elsewhere if I were you, ie. use google and read multiple reviews!

How about taking our advice, otherwise why are you even posting here?
There are like 7 pages now..

I know that, and I will be goggeling every day - Hey! If it wasn't for you I would of got a p45 board instead of the x38 like u said - I listen.

Remember, a forum isn't a place where you ask a question, get advice and just take it - I see a forum more as a discussion, with multiple views. :o

thanks for everybody's input though, and I do check all links, etc posted.

i suppose trying to build a big rig just starts to get complicated, one way or another... :D

You're not taking a major piece of advice by purely sourcing from 1 or 2 distribs.

Good luck tho, and yes google is your friend!
