My installation woes....

Telkom techie finnaly comes to install my ADSL today, but finds that all the cables in my exchange are faulty and need to be replaced before installation...all of them!!!!

They said this will only take a few days....but...this is telkom :(

I must say that the techie was very friendly and helpfull though.
 
telkom staff at grass level are generally super folk who work hard in awful conditions and do their level best to help - well thats been my experience anyway. the second you meet management though its a different story. i genuinely feel sorry for the worker bee's at Telkom.
 
I agree. Usually the techs are helpful and friendly, although I have come across an incompetent a$$ on the odd occasion.
 
when our techie came out a while back (after waiting 7 or 8 weeks for installation) he replaced all our lines - from the pole to the house, the house to my homephone line inside the house, and then from the house to my garage (which i converted into a study/computer room)...he offered out of his own to replace the lines because they were really old.... he got there at 12.00 and left at about 18.00... couldn't believe how much effort this guy put in, and he was really friendly, and said that management were a bunch of idiots...
so even their own staff think their bosses suck! :rolleyes:
 
Yeah man, I share your frustration.

Had to wait 2 months before it was finally done. They keep rescheduling or just dont show. Cable faults etc.

Any way. They installed yesterday, but now I have to downgrade to ADSL 192 because I am "too far from the exchange". What a mission!?!?!?!

And ping times are not all that great :(
 
errr...just got off the phone woth them now, they say that they have to send a person from the cable section to assess the issue, and from there it has to be sent to the planning section for authorization...and i just brought a modem and signed up with an ISP, man i feel cheated!

Did you come across any phone number, or person i could talk to about this to hurry up the process at all?
 
Anyone else had to get faulty cables repaired before installation?
How long did it take?
Any contacts you can give me? to speed it up.
 
npoe with telkom it goes to someone else i reckon it could take up to 2 months again to sort

phone your isp tell them your situation and see what happens im sure they'll understand
