Well I knew it would happen to me eventually but didn't expect it today! I have two hard-disks an 80gig (usually for my Operating Systems) and a 250gig (for everything else)

As you all know I have been only using Ubuntu Linux, spend 2 weeks tweaking it to my liking. Anyway this morning boot up pc and what happens I discovered my 80gig decided to die on me. Ubuntu GONE:(,,,, but at least I still have all my entertainment etc on my 250gig.

So anyway I have a spare 80gig drive which I have replaced the faulty one with. However I have decided that I tend to like playing the odd game or two.

So my new setup is the following (Will take a few days to setup though:eek:)

1) Windows XP +SP3, 32bit (with PAE enabled); this is to play the native XP games and any native XP software I need.

2) Install Windows Vista x64 +SP1, mainly for direct x 10 games:D

3) Ubuntu 8.04 Linux 64bit, this of cause my main OS where I surf the web, listen to music etc.

4) A virtual instance of Server 2003+sp2, with all my office installed. So I can access my e-mails no matter which OS I am currently booted up into.

What do you all think?

Every OS except Mac, perfect.

You might want to read a few "dual"-booting guides though, could get tricky.

Triple booting is not too hard. Just do it this way: XP,Vista,Ubuntu. That is by far the easiest way of going. This is just a fast way of spending an 80GB disk I must say.

Good question, there reason for that is. Is for compatibility there are still a few applications that either don't work on Vista or work better on XP. On these operating systems I'll prolly spend 60% in Ubuntu, 30% in XP and 10% in Vista

I still think you shud stick with vista and ubuntu. A few months ago I would've agreed that apps don't work on vista, but now all seems ok, bar a small number of apps.

Thats the joy of triple boot, I can run all 3 :D, have to say installed Ubuntu 8.04(x64) (even got my surround sound working:D) and I find it far more stable than the normal 32bit version
