This is what I am planning for my husband's birthday lunch on Saturday. I am trying to make it a light/elegant buffet lunch. But I feel something is missing? Maybe too many salads? There are lots of veg options because two of the guests are vegetarians. what do you think ?:

Hot food
Roast country chicken with rosemary and lemon
Ratatouille with salsa verde (v)
Cold food
Zucchini pancakes with tuna ceviche
and with mushroom ceviche (v)
Seared ostrich carpaccio
Mini Avocado and black bean wraps (v)
Mini caprese bites (v)
Melon, parma ham and rocket salad
Butternut & beetroot salad (v)
Quinoa tabbouleh (v)
Assorted cheeses and pates
Artisan bread

wow sounds good and for a lunch, thats a nice menu

you having someone cater for you ?
Nope, foolishly, I will be doing it myself. But the recipes are actually very simple, minimal culinary skills required.

Sounds good. Make sure you have hot and cold drinks available since some people like tea/coffee while others prefer Coke or juices etc. Get a coupla 5L's of bottled water as well.

damn OP that's amazeballz. your husband is lucky. is it a significant birthday? I would have never guessed you a womanez with that name. lol.

Yes, it is his 50th. He didn't want a big party as he doesn't like the fuss, so he asked for a lunch instead (and he is going to the rugby as well)

It seems really, really awesome. It also seems pretty balanced. I'm sure the vegetarians will greatly appreciate the effort you have made to make nice vegetarian food; it's so often lacking.

Sounds delicious :)
As a vegetarian I really like that you have so many veggie dishes to choose from. People don't normally go out of their way to make more than two dishes and that's stretching it. Usually I'll get one curry and roti :D

It beats getting a salad with rice :wtf:

Most Definitely, as a vegetarian as well, this menu looks Awesome. Well Done.

Oh on second look at this Menu, i see that there is only 1 hot meal option, few issues with that mainly though you dont have a Vegetarian hot Option, i suggest, turning some of the Zucchini into "Spagetti"(becareful not to over cook) for your Ratatouille, and maybe some Herbed Bread Crumbs for a bit of texture
