Oh I just remembered an even better one. We got an invite to some kid's birthday party once. I said no but they insisted that we come along and that they had very specifically catered for me because I was vegetarian.

Meal time. Mutton breyani, chicken breyani, dhall. That was it.

I learnt my lesson after that. If the people don't look right I know there won't be any vegetables and refuse their invites outright.

Being vagetarian myself, I think the guests who are also vegetarian will appreciate the variety.
 
Your menu really sounds awesome. We are hosting my boys 18th next month...invite is practically lamb spit braai with patatoe salad, paper plates, use fingers to eat and bring booze. For the vegans, woolies literally 50m away. Hope it's going to be as successful as your menu :) And to be honest , I didn't even give the numerous vegans in my boys age group a second thought in our planning. Bad mommy. :D
