My NeoFlex Data Speedtest.net results :D

Impressive speeds. We also had a good experience on the service – definitely one of the best broadband services currently in SA

How is Neotel viewing this product? As broadband or fast internet? They didn't want Neoconnect to be labled broadband, what is their stance on Neoflex?

that ping looks a bit high where are you based?

I also noticed that. I know it is a wireless service but that is higher than what the average ping should be on the device. It should be about 100ms local.

Yeah man there faq say average 100-150 aswell speeds look good but that ping not good at all.

how stable is your connection are you in an excellent coverage area?

This is one important thing to consider. I for instance cannot use 3G at home since I have very poor 3G coverage (I get dialup speeds). Same goes with Neotel, except I don't even have Neotel coverage at home yet.

I have excellent coverage and my connection is very stable. So overall, I am happy.

I used this to download Windows 7 Beta 64bit in 8 hours without issue.

Guys
Dont want to sound ungreatful or pessimistic, but why all the excitement over 2000/200 kbps? Sure, it's a breakthrough for Neotel - but it's still a crappy gsm-based WIRELESS service. Hows the latency? Are the speeds CONSISTENT and STABLE?
I'd also love to know what smart telecommunications company would put the word 'flex' in any wireless service anyway? When I first heard 'NeoFlex' I intuitively fell for an apparently unintentional trap, thinking it was a fibre-optic service or something similar.

I just got back from holiday in the USA, where I downloaded to my heart's content on a 8mbit/1mbit DSL connection - and that's still slow compared to what else you can get there, not to mention the speeds you can get elsewhere in the world.
Now of course comparing South Africa's internet infrastructure to the US's is a bit far fetched, but a 2mbit contended wireless service is nothing to get hyped up about in 2009, which happens to be one short year away from our world cup.

I am just happy that I have a 2Mbps line and the d/l rates are consistent. I have experienced 20Mbps lines when I lived in the UK...so this is also not a biggie BUT for the S. African context I think that this is worth it.

This does look good, and I would also like to know about the two major factors that would either make or break this for me & my company.. Consistency & Stability.

Another thing I'm wondering about is the sustained performance of this service once saturation starts taking effect - will this performance hold true once more users, and especially companies sign up? Companies signing up will obviously result in exponential growth of users due to the amount of multiple (facebook) users being unleashed on Neotel's network with every small business signing up.

This speed test made me happy. I've been looking at Neotel options for a while now, and have now ordered. Vodacom can kiss my ass.
