I know of people in Grabouw with an ostrich in their (normal-size) backyard. He's been there for years.

This dude in Ballito who lived just behind the main beach had two in his garden. Those on holiday here years back might have seen them. The one day the one got out and was running around like Road Runner throught the village streets :D
 
If the feathers are black, it's a male; greyish, it's female. So, now you will know the sex of the one you have. They like eating green stuff like lucerne.

And can you believe it, just three blocks down the road there was a coyote in someone else's backyard, hanging over the fence with a twinkle in his eye... :p
