My new small project parcelcheck.co.za

Very nice!

It may be worthwhile getting a designer to make it look good though. The functionality is there but it looks like a very old site. No offense, just an honest opinion.

Keep up the good work koeksGHT. :)

Already got a design offer from Ed :)

My design skills are terrible haha.

@koeksGHT: Nice app :)

What is your poll rate?

If your site becomes popular, the couriers are probably going to try block it. Considering how unstable the SAPO web-site is, I wouldn't be surprised if this could bring the whole thing down :)

They can block it ;) I can just change the IP address haha. Poll rate is currently 10 minutes while I am still developing.

Still gonna take a look at redesign as I am not much of a graphics guru. Even my code needs to be neatened and put into a object orientated design. So far its just a prototype.

Just a visitor overview over the past few days!

Thanks for the support everyone!

Just an update on the application side,

As requested I have built a small API.

As I am still in the beta testing phase, I will be offering a few people access to the API.

If you need/ or would like to give it a try, just PM me your email and business name and I will give you an API key.

It's a pretty cool idea, will definitely give it a test when I'm next expecting a package.
I abhor the Post Office and Speed Services websites. Terribly slow and terribly unstable.

Would be nice if you could update it for other delivery services too.

Also is there supposed to be a website here?

Still getting around to other courier services :)

And synapticweb.co.za is just my personal domain but I haven't put my new website on there yet.

Nice idea, but the problem is that SAPO never updates tracking statuses. I have sent and received a few, and never have I seen an update apart from when it left the originating post office

Same story with USPS :(

3 things.
I often get my tracking number before the package gets registered on the system, and would like to register it on your site, but the site doesn't allow that.
How long do you keep looking for updates to packages?
And then, not that I'm complaining, but nothing happens when I click on your adverts, so I assume you won't get much money from them.

Hey, well original reason I didn't didn't allow tracking numbers that were not on the system was because if you entered an incorrect tracking number then it would just sit there on my system.

But because of the API I am building and when businesses use it, it would allow for the tracking number to be stored until it is picked up on the system. So I will be changing it soon.

Updates are roughly every 10 minutes at the moment.

Adverts were just there originally to see how much they actually generate.. but they are not really worth it so I have taken them off for now..

Few updates in the back end to make my life easier. Still needs a facelift but I have some ideas. Basic API seems to be working.

Parcelcheck.co.za was not working for a while as one of the SAPO leased line circuits was not functioning correctly. Affected updates, but all seems to be working now.

Can it find a parcel being sent from the USA with the USA tracking number ?

That would be worth a donation from me !

I'm too a loyal user of parceltrack too change and it doesn't look like yours cover so much different couriers.

Well I'm developing this site myself. I unfortunately am very busy and don't have a lot of time at the moment to add other couriers, this will happen eventually.

I am very pleased with the amount of hits/traffic just tracking SAPO items. This month I have gone through 94.27GB with traffic!

I will defiantly be improving the system over a long time as it seems to being used!

*Planned features in future development*

- Ability to add tracking number even if it has not been registered on the system.
- Major upgrade to the look of the website
- Improvements to the API for use for online shops such as bidorbuy and others
- Support for most of the major couriers
- Information about couriers such as average delivery time
- Maybe a control panel to manage parcels you are tracking as well as stats about them

This is my long term project, so it will be tweaked to everyone's requirements!

Thats good advice, Take it, was my very first thought when i opened up the site.

If you dont want to hire a developer or graphical designer, Use plain old Power Point 2010 it can make some nice buttons with Shapes.

I.E Small piece which i made http://griblinks.co.za/shortURL.php (Yes its a Tiny-URL Knock Off) :-) Both the logo and button was made with PowerPoint 2010

All graphics you see here http://griblinks.co.za/ was made with Powerpoint. (Old site which never worked out though)
