My new work PC just Crashed!!! HELP!

From what I understand from your later posts, it seems the tech transplanted your old drive into a box with new processor and motherboard. (post 14 above)

If so, then your tech is not too clued up. With such a major change, you always install Windows from scratch, as the old installation is tied pretty tight with the old system, more specifically the motherboard, chipset and hard drive controller.

Although it has been done successfully to just transplant Windows, there is no guarantee how stable it will be over long term use.

If it isn't a tansplant hard drive, it may be faulty dvd-rom drive or faulty memory. Both can cause such issues.

Asha i have no idea what your talking about man, i have done this many times with legit windows and all you have to do is phone microsoft or repair the installation. Never seen this problemw hen replacing hardware with an old hdd. My money is on the rom or ram.

I vote ram too.
My XP installation was giving me similar errors and it was because the of the RAM... had collected too much dust in the slots

I also agree with Ashaman on that - you can transplant windows and hope it will work, however the preferred way is to install Windows on a new HDD, and transfer all your files and stuff over from the old HDD to the new one.

I've had several instances where Windows would plain BSOD when going from one brand of motherboard to another brand.

However, in this case, I suspect a problematic RAM module.
