I joined OpenWeb (family .. lol) in February by purchasing a 5GIG International Saix account. A month later (March) I also purchased a local account (30GIG IS). Had a lot of teething problems with usernames and passowrds but eventually got it right, was given a new password that worked.
On the 26th March 2008, I received an email from OpenWeb support asking for payment of the accounts, I immediately notified them that I would not be needing the International but would keep the local account and made immediate payment (R130.00).
I got capped on the local account but, seen that payment was made for April, I thought that after midnight the account would reset itself automatically. Well it didn’t so I sent an email to support and got a reply from Keoma asking me for proof of payment, stating that there was no records of the account being paid. I immediately called and spoke to a ………….. at Technical support. His name was Edwin and after I complained that my account was not active yet spite being paid, he suggested that I should write an email to technical support demanding a refund. Lmao .. what technical support is that? Why not ask me for my details and try to sort the problem out? So I sent another email with proof of payment to Keoma himself. (2nd proof of payment)
I arrived home at 6.10pm and tried to connect but, the account is still not working, that’s 19 hours later and 5 days after payment was made.
I wrote another email to Keoma at 6.24pm (email support until 6.30pm, so they say).
It is now 7.13pm and still no news from Keoma or OpenWeb.
My advice here goes to all new ADSL members, please make sure that you have an ISP that offers telephone support at least until 10pm, email support does not work unless you have lots of patience.
Keoma, I left a message with Edwin for you to call me back, I sent you an email asking you what was the problem, you chose to ignore the call and the email , maybe you would like to respond here so that possible new members can make up their minds on who to choose as their ISP.
Prior to OpenWeb I used WebAfrica, great service and Technical Support and they offer the same products.

Just thought I would show you the support I have received at 8pm on a saturday. It will not help you with your situation but will give a more balanced view for those trying to decide on an ISP.

Hi ....

Thank you for your mail.

Everyone is correct except for the VPI VCI:

VPI 8
VCI 35

Good luck!

It seems your mistake was not sending through proof of payment. It is difficult for any company to allocate funds when money is merely paid into the account.

Huh? not sending proof of payment? I did TWICE, yes TWICE ....

hmmm interesting topic. I had no problems with openweb thus far! But thats just me

I truly hope that those trying to decide on an ISP can read English because you surely can't .... :)

Now you decide to attack me!! Well I suppose that sums up the type of person you are.

If you reread you do not mention sending the proof of payment twice. The other time I missed it due to the formatting of your post. In fact the formatting of your entire post makes it very difficult to read. Perhaps you have a problem with English?

I just felt the need to point out the good service I had received but now I feel the need to defend OpenWeb even more. Did you ever have a look at the TERMS & CONDITIONS OF USE for OpenWeb?

If I were Keoma I would insist on another month's payment from you for your SAIX account. Five days notice, and after they contact you, is just a little short of the 1 month required.

8.1 1 calendar months notice (the 1st or 2nd of every month only) written notice for SAIX Shaped, SAIX Unshaped, SAOL Uncapped and SAOL Capped clients;

is it me or are there alot of new okes with no posts giving openweb trouble?

OpenWeb have a representitive here don't they? If its an issue, or if they feel its unjust, they can respond... they fact that they don't says a lot in my eyes...

Please explain yourself .. you don't really have to but I would like to know what you mean by that statement.

I spoke to Edwin (where would I get the name Edwin from?) and sent proof of payment twice, what else can I do?

I will keep everyone informed on the events that will follow.

Why would I come here without reason? lol another one that either can't read or is on something ...

Ha ha, xrapidx, I read that as you being on his side and now he is attacking you! Damn this guy knows how to make himself welcome somewhere!

Is this a new record here? I doubt that.

You clearly have a misconception about this community mate. We don't go running around telling people "Dude, you can't read man! Neither can you!", we rather say like... "Dude, reread my post - Think you missed something ;) :p". You see? "You do understand English I presume? ;) :p" Cool

....and so the days of our lives continues, anyways my salute to mrBeep he truly goes beyond where he normally wouldn't have had to in many ways for his customers and even non client queries.

My vote however for worst isp experience goes to ODS, though nowire comes to mind too....

It is very easy to come here, read the post and ignore, comment or salute someone.

It would not be that easy if it happened to you.

The fact is that I have paid for a service on the 26th March 2008 and up to now there is no explanation from OpenWeb management as to why I don’t have what I paid for, this is nothing short of ridiculous.

Once again I advise potential ADSL members to be very careful when choosing an ISP.

My personal advice is to avoid at all costs OpenWeb. They are despicable to have done such thing.

I am in business as well and if I had to do this to my clients, taking money without returning the service that was promised, I would be labeled as a thief.

Almost 24 hours later and I am still waiting from an explanation from OpenWeb’s management.

They should not be in business. We have to deal with the high costs of ADSL and to be treated like this is ridiculous.

I am giving them until 8am to restore my account and I demand an apology and an explanation.

The word has to be spread and tomorrow I will post an article on HelloPeter.com and I will contact the press and radio stations regarding this if necessary.

We are always pointing fingers are Telkom, what about cases like this?

Silence from a company that took money from a client and returned no service as promised will not get them very far.

I will not let this post die I will keep alive for as long as I see fit.

OpenWeb in my eyes, you are not worthy being a reseller for IS or Saix as a matter of fact.

If there is a representative from IS on this forum please I ask you to investigate this case.

remember the bumber stickers and t-shirts too

...we wait and see what side B and C of this story is before we get out the pitch forks and torches.

Luis, you need to chill.

You say you are in business?

Maybe they made an error or have some form of explanation.

Just calm down before you pop an artery :)
