My PC Has A Fever!

Sorry for sounding like an arse, but how do I go about doing that? :confused: Would that be an actual setting on the PC under my Power Management or via the UPS itself?

Also should the UPS be warmish, like lukewarm, when its plug in, but my PC is not turned on?

Um you say you smell burning and your brother is fanning the thing down to try get it cool? Well I would safely say that it is operating out of its designed capabilities.

Put it this way, it should at most be slightly warm to the touch, but nothing excessive and as I mentioned, the smell of burning anything is not a good thing and is sure not normal.

Yes, through power management and/or your UPS software.

I don't have one myself, but I would imagine it would be warm to the touch, even if the PC is off.

Yeah, I thought so too, that anything burning is not good, but was told by the chaps at Incredible & the oke that sold me the PC that its just excess rubber & plastic in the UPS thats burning. I fail to see how thats a good thing or even possible in a UPS. :confused:

I've unplugged it & things are notably cooler now. Reckon I might take my chances without it, than have my house burn. :o

Should I have my UPS on all the time, or just during storms? My bro thinks it could be heating up, because we have it on for about 7-9 hours straight. :o
 
I have my ups running 24/7 (also proline) and it gets warm but nothing hectic as it is on a table and gets air from below.

I use it just to stop the eskom spikes from wiping out my psu and quite possibly a lot of other components at the same time.
