Good Day
I am a contract customer with Cell C since May 2013. I have had great service from Cell C since joining, but, experienced a gradual decline of their service level since taking on the contract. This December holidays, 19 December 2014 up until the 6th of January 2015, was the worst level of service ever from Cell C in Kleinmond(Western Cape).
Let me explain the factors of reasoning through my personal experience:
Data Connection: I would not have a data connection for some times during a day.
Data Throughput: When I had a data connection you could almost not do anything with it. I was unable to browse facebook, send pictures via Whatsapp.
Latency: I experienced a very high latency almost at every data connection I have made.
Voice: Some of the times I could not receive or make any phone calls. A Prompt with the message: “No Network Coverage” would appear.
Voice Quality: Most of the times you would be unable to hear the other person speaking because of background noises on the network / breaking up noise. I am located in the middle of the town where I stay and experience poor voice quality.
I have reported these issues to Cell C on numerous occasions but I am so demotivated when I am asked to complete your very “un-user friendly” Network complaint form. When I do fill in the form and have the issues investigated I am told that there is a coverage problem and there are plans to improve the coverage – when is this going to happen? In 10 years time? I have dealt with Ashley from your network team.
I have also enquired about ending my contract before the time but am not prepared to pay the settlement amount.
I bought a MTN sim for the duration of the holiday and it has been a pleasure using them as their network is fully operational!
My contract is coming to an end in May 2015 and I will be porting away from this terrible network.
Think carefully before you sign a contract with Cell C as you are locked in for the duration of the contract and above all they are now hiking their rates.
